So glad our extra family member made it out for Chase's big day. Been a long and winding road my friend. Thanks for always allowing the light to shine on our young people. Appreciate you. @ChrisDuerr

People’s desire to belong often defeats their desire to improve. - James Clear My editorial: Hang out with complainers, and those focused on criticizing others you’ll be unhappy & won’t get much done in life. Hang out with doers, you’ll be happy, productive & have a great life.

@TrackCoachJones @pntrack @coachbdixon Thank you thoughts coach. 1)is "based on need" determined by what you see in execution of full jumps? Or predetermined? 2)is the early start because they also do a running workout after?

Jumpers warmup 30 min prior to the rest of the team and have specific drills to do each time when it’s their day. 2-3 days per week based on need. Every workout is highly intentional depending on development outcomes we’re seeking, which means every second is accounted for and there’s no wasted time. Most of the drill focus is spent on activation, stability, and control. The actual jumping portion is spent on the approach and takeoff. If those two things are great, that gets you 80-85% of the way there. I have to be precise with time because I coach all three jumps for both boys and girls.

Horizontal jump coaches: how do you organize your practice week/month/season taking into account you need to work: approach, takeoff, technique, landing, etc? @coachbdixon @pntrack please share to increase views

@coachbick83 @pntrack @coachbdixon I’ve coached horizontal jumps for 13 years now. I focus a lot on approach and rhythm. 90% of jumps are your approach and the penultimate, so we spend a lot of time working approach. 1-2 times a week we will work body movement in the air off an arch board as well as landing.

@pntrack Train like a sprinter for 30 min then go play soccer for 60. Or, train them for endurance for 60 and play soccer for 30. I think the first would make a better soccer player and the second would make a better cross country runner.

Recently a soccer dad argued that soccer should be trained as an endurance sport and that sprint training is irrelevant. His reasoning: “Soccer requires athletes to run 7 miles of 60m sprints.” 🤔
