I wish there was a nicer way to say this, but the best way to describe Duran is that he just isn't a winning player
He has all the tools in the world but he doesn't do the things that actually helps a baseball team win games

@DanBFox1287 Agree with most things with you. But trade is more than Durbin. Monasterio been a positive impact player. Got another prospect who has .836 OPS in Worcester. AND a 2nd round pick
Although Durbin looks bad offensively 41 games in, it still is a fraction of a full season.

It’s kind of crazy how similar this feels to the day after Devers got traded. The hit pieces, the blame game, the Ken Rosenthal dunking.
We don’t know what is going to happen, but we do know that whatever was happening wasn’t working. So why don’t we just wait and see

It’s fascinating to me that Connelly Earlys expected numbers are so far behind his actual numbers, but I think a large part of it is that he throws a lot of high fastballs that guys get under with good exit velos, leading to a lot of lazy fly balls

For all the “this roster is trash” people:
From the time Devers got traded to the time Roman got hurt, the Red Sox were one of the best teams in baseball last year. And that’s with Bregman being hurt and then coming back and doing nothing.
There are some major flaws of course,

When he returned to Fenway in April and played well, the FO began to question the coaching staff’s developmental process with young guys: "Why do a lot of players go to other places and get better? @gingersnaphyde Yes I see that too. I do expect a move from the OF surplus at some point. But even then, next man up from an impact standpoint seems to be Nate Eaton who did a great job in the role last year, raked in WBC (off Skubal) and doing great in AAA. Fits the athletic profile too

@coachmurphshow I think he would have to keep up what he’s doing for sure, and the right opportunity from a roster standpoint would have to come up. Could also see them just keeping him there for the year, maybe a late season call up for some ABs, and then have him part of the plans for 2027.

One player I think about with the coaching staff turnover is Kristian Campbell. With Tracy & the new coaches coming from the minors, I wonder if he gets another opportunity at some point.
Last 10 games: 11 for 36 (.306), 9 BB/11 K. Batted ball metrics are also improving.
