Bit of an announcement
Tomorrow marks my last day as CTO of @solstrategies
It's been an absolutely incredible ride. From starting @orangefincrypto , to coming onto SOL Strategies, to being the first Solana focused company ever to get listed on Nasdaq, to being the staking provider for an ETF, to so much more, it's been an experience I wouldn't trade for the world.
None of it would be possible without the amazing team I had the pleasure of interacting with. This includes @m_hbbrd , @Ehrls15 , @AfroMonkey404 , @coderigo , @TrilliumJohn and more that aren't on X, but appreciate them just as much. Thank you to all of you for being amazing to work with.
Additionally, I wanted to give a shout out to the @darklakefi team that have already brought such amazing energy and ideas to the company in @vitorpy , @DuchessofSOL , @yesjess , and the rest of the team. I'm super excited to see what the rest of you build!
Lastly, as far as the team goes, I'd like to also give a public shout out to @LeahWald , @TonyGuoga , and @moeadham . Thank you for bringing me on board, taking a chance on me, and teaching me many things I'll take with me for the rest of my life.
In addition to the team, I'd like to shout all the investors and ecosystem teams I have had the pleasure of working with. There's far too many to name, and because I don't want to risk forgetting to include one, I won't name any. But please know if I have ever talked to you, I appreciate you 🙏.
As for what's next, I'll continue to be involved in SOL Strategies as a consultant, helping to ensure everything operates smoothly and providing help in any place I can. Additionally, I plan on trying to find a happy balance between touching grass and experimenting with AI more 😀.
My thoughts on Solana and crypto overall remain unchanged. If you are a builder on Solana and need (free) help with anything such as intros, fundraising, technical advice, etc, don't hesitate to reach out. If there is a way I can help you, I intend to do my best to do so.
Thank you 🫶

OSSing more of our automation tools today for @solana validators!
From deployments to upgrades to failovers, our entire operation is completely automated.
Check it out, rip it apart, and / or contribute!

🚀 Introducing solana-validator-ha, our open source, gossip-based high availability (HA) manager for Solana validators. While failover and HA tools exist, they either lack true automation or require extra dependencies and infrastructure that can introduce single points of failure and operational complexity. So we set out to build something different, completely leveraging Solana's own network. 🧵

@maxekaplan @jasper9890 @solana @jasper9890 I can definitely add and push some examples early next week when back on the tools. The pony will take a few more days to partition and push

@aceddeca1 TBH I'm like a squirrel 🐿️ - I forget where I tuck these away so I surprise myself when I find them. :)
English

@jasper9890 @solstrategies I'll own up to it 😁. Meant to catch one's attention

I have no idea who at @solstrategies wrote this error message in the code for their validator switchover tool, but I absolutely love it. 🫡 😂
2025-08-21T15:39:21Z ERROR failed to confirm gossip nodes switched roles - potentially serious shit - investigate immediately

@pumpkinspool @maxekaplan @solstrategies Yeah currently you do. You can run it from your local as the target program to hit with ssh on the server though. Would be neat to ponder on an iteration where this doesn't need to happen. On the wishlist is something like this.
English

@maxekaplan @solstrategies Interesting. Do you have to run this on the validator servers themselves? At least that's what the GIFs appear to suggest. I kind of like that I don't have to SSH to any validator server to run mine. It handles it all from my work machine.

OSS'd our solana validator failover tool we use at @solstrategies !
- Bidirectional quic connection for tower sync / identity switch
- Intelligent health checks
- Most failovers completed in <1-2 slots

@maxekaplan @jasper9890 @cavemanloverboy @laine_sa_ Cheers @jasper9890 . Contributions welcome. Current state is mostly how we find it useful but always better to have more and smarter community heads have a go at it.
English

@solstrategies Neat. Have you guys measured if there’s lag between set-identity and vote signing? ie. what happens to inflight votes once you’ve issued set-identity

In our latest engineering blog post, we discuss custom tooling we built to enable fast, seamless failovers between active/passive Solana validators.
