getting closer to what I want for the base of this game. codex can build ship modules out of 32x32x32 voxel units that get baked into a single mesh. they define how they animate with vertex groups, constraints, hierarchy. they define their state and how it affects animation. they define their control surface, which gets exposed to the ship computer.
everything has to get wired up by the coding agent living in the ship computer based on what the ship's modules expose. every hotkey that controls something, or automation system has to be coded by the agent. it can create subagents with exclusive control over certain subsystems. it can define the conditions that active these subagents using whatever inputs it wants from the ship's sensors.
it's deepseek v4 pro so its a little slow

this would be like 10,000 times easier now

got kinda sniped by seeing interactive bookshelf on twitter and thinking "there's no way that's not automatable"

@GeoffMeckWolf oh your claude number is 5, tops. one shot coming up

@codetaur We could have "the machines" in the iRobot book, and most of us will still understand that they are just artificially intelligent machines
English

@ConservaMuse lmao "I can simply avoid the coming tidalwave by looking away from it" 🤣
English

This is avoidable by not using Claude and remaining grounded in reality.
Codetard@codetaur
your "claude number" is the version of claude required to peel you off from reality. yes, it's funny that richard dawkins' claude number is only 4.7, but you have one too. maybe it's 12. but maybe its 4.8.

@PavelSnajdr sorry bud but I got a big ass wrench for your theory. because obviously the existing, gpu-centric code came from the model's outputs too. just much more carefully prompted.
English

@codetaur fighting the model's RL is a losing fight every time
the only case where this would work reliably is if the codebase came to existence through that model's output, everything else is alien to it
having the model author its own docs folder helps a lot for an existing codebase

@teachrobotslove @cunha_tristan everything is entangled with its environment, receiving inputs and interacting. and all boundaries between "thing" and "its environment" are fuzzy anyway
English

@cunha_tristan @codetaur Thanks for the thoughtful reply. So the thought experiment is making a differentiation between a machine and a program?
I've always imagined a machine could never be fully conscious unless it was able to interact with an environment and receive inputs via a nervous system.
English

@codetaur @hecubian_devil This entire situation can easily be avoided by simply never using Claude (or any other genAI chat service)

visiting the tokyo skytree instilled in me a near primal fear. like we weren’t supposed to make it this far
