Arjuna My Favourite Character in Mahabharat.
Wanted to know why? then go through this post.
Part-I
The Story Behind Arjuna's Birth:
Arjuna's biological father is Indra. With Indra's blessing, Kunti gave birth to Arjuna as her third child because King Pandu, Kunti's husband, was cursed by a sage and therefore could not have physical relations with his wives.
The Death of King Pandu:
King Pandu was living in the forest with his two wives and five sons. One day, he was overcome with desire for his second wife, Madri. Pandu died as curse was placed upon him by the sage.
Return to Hastinapur:
After the death of King Pandu and Madri, Kunti took her five young sons to their native place, Hastinapur. At that time, the blind king Dhritarashtra was ruling the kingdom.
Arrival of Dronacharya:
Bhishma wanted the young princes to receive proper training, so he began searching for a suitable guru. One day, Drona, a very poor Brahmin who had been humiliated by his childhood friend Drupada when he asked for a cow to feed his son Ashwatthama, arrived in Hastinapur.
Drona’s Condition:
Bhishma’s heart filled with joy when he saw Drona. He welcomed and honored him in the kingdom and explained that he wanted his grandsons to be trained under him. Drona agreed, but with one condition: after completing their training, the princes must capture Drupada and bring him before him with folded knees as Guru Dakshina.
The test of Drona:
One day, Drona placed a bird on a tree and called the princes one by one. He asked them, “What do you see as you aim at the bird?”
Yudhishthira replied that he could see the bird and its nest and said that the nest might be damaged if he shot the arrow. Drona told him that he was not focused enough and asked him to step aside.
Then he called Arjuna and asked the same question. Arjuna replied, “I see nothing except the bird.” Hearing this, Drona was pleased and asked him to shoot. Arjuna released the arrow and successfully hit the bird.
I will continue form here again someday as I don't want to compromise and reduce important parts and proceed.
