"I love being a venture capitalist. I don’t mean a little bit, I mean I flat out think this is the best job on the planet. This isn’t lip service. I love being a part of technical disruption. It gives me goose bumps. I love thinking about creating equity value out of thin air. I love being unafraid of taking on the multi-billion dollar company in their own backyard, because you know that your team of 20-year old entrepreneurs will kick their ass. I get high on it. It’s like playing chess on top the world instead of a game board. If we lived in a society where everyone made the exact same salary – I would still do this. I really, really love it."

"So You Want to be a VC" Im enjoying this week in Boston visiting students promoting my new book - Runnin Down a Dream. Not surprisingly, many ask me about trying to break into venture capital. I wrote a letter answering this question 15 years ago. I would send it out when people inquired. I'm making it public for the first time - with zero modifications. 1) I think it holds up well 2) make sure and read my new book also 3) I probably can't help with followups (as suggested in the letter) Hope you find it useful.
