🎧 FEATURED ALT TRACK — APRIL 24
David Bowie — “Ashes to Ashes”
Today we salute Tony Visconti (82) — producer behind some of Bowie’s defining moments. Here’s one of their many gems.

🖤 Deeper Facts ↓
Besides Bowie, Tony Visconti has built an extraordinary career since the late ’60s, working across decades with a true who’s who of music artists. From T. Rex and Thin Lizzy to Ultravox and Morrissey, his production has helped shape some of the most distinctive sounds in alternative and rock music over more than 50 years.
His partnership with David Bowie, though, remains one of the most influential in music history. From early albums like Space Oddity through to the Berlin era and beyond, Visconti’s approach to sound, arrangement and atmosphere played a crucial role in defining Bowie’s constantly evolving style.
By the time “Ashes to Ashes” arrived in 1980, that creative bond had reached another peak — blending experimental textures with a strong sense of identity. It wasn’t just a continuation… it was a reinvention that would influence the direction of alternative music into the decade ahead.

🌑 FEATURED ALT TRACK — APRIL 1984
The Psychedelic Furs — “Heaven”
The Psychedelic Furs hit with “Heaven” — bold, distinct, and reaching for something bigger.
🎧 Turn it up — “Heaven”

🖤 Deeper Facts ↓
Released in 1984 from Mirror Moves, “Heaven” captured The Psychedelic Furs at a moment of real expansion — moving further from their raw post-punk beginnings into a more melodic, radio-reaching sound. Built around a soaring, emotional core and Richard Butler’s unmistakable voice, the track balanced accessibility with depth, helping push the band deeper into the US charts and MTV rotation. It stands as one of their most recognisable songs — where atmosphere, ambition, and identity all aligned.
