Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that a road-heavy early schedule and a reshuffled offensive line may favor Deshaun Watson if the competition against Shedeur Sanders remains close. "I really believe that Todd Monken will choose his starting quarterback based on who gives the Browns the best chance to win, but if Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are really close down to the wire, the road-heavy early slate could be a factor. With so many young players, as well as five new starters on the offensive line, Monken might want a more experienced quarterback to help manage the game. Watson is also 7-0 against the Jaguars, and has never lost in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium — the Browns’ first two opponents." (cleveland.com/browns/2026/05…)

“If you’re telling me I have to choose between Deshaun & Shedeur… there’s no comparison. I’m playing Shedeur.” — @ByJasonLloyd on the #Browns QB situation 👀 He says he’s not sure what Cleveland is really trying to get out of this. So what are they trying to accomplish? 🤔 youtu.be/mMJ_KOiWS_U

"I’m not there yet. We’ve been on the field for three practices." Todd Monken didn’t indicate that any one player currently has a strong lead over another for the QB1 spot. Monken did say he’d love to have a decision by training camp, but he also said things can change throughout the summer and into the preseason too. I always thought it was premature to claim someone was already winning a position competition in April after a couple sessions in shorts. But what do I know?
