Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that a road-heavy early schedule and a reshuffled offensive line may favor Deshaun Watson if the competition against Shedeur Sanders remains close. "I really believe that Todd Monken will choose his starting quarterback based on who gives the Browns the best chance to win, but if Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are really close down to the wire, the road-heavy early slate could be a factor. With so many young players, as well as five new starters on the offensive line, Monken might want a more experienced quarterback to help manage the game. @JoeSalOG He is the best option on the roster. Sanders and DG are bad and green is a project rookie. Seems like an obvious move to start 4, unless of course Sanders progressed massively in the offseason (doubtful)…

@DanielOyefusi I said this when he was a Cavs coach as well. Has to be the whiniest HC of all time. Dude aegues after every call even if it is blatently a foul. I think he hurts his team with rhe officials annoying TF out of them all game. Doesnt pick his battles well arguing.

Not saying he doesn’t have a problem, but it might not be as bad as it looks. The rehab could just be a PR stunt to get some value back.

@JackGormanSport The fact that he entered residential treatment for gambling addiction is concerning. This isn't just a kid who made 1 bad decision. In-patient rehab is a big deal IMO.

This Brett Sorsby thing is a conundrum for the #Browns. Where I land on it really depends on how Monken feels Sorsby would fit into his offense. Assuming he does (and it would seem he'd have that potential), and they felt he deserves a first-round grade based on talent and locker room presence, I'd be inclined to take a shot on him. But his gambling is a massive problem that can not just be brushed off. He allegedly placed bets on his own team... We in Ohio have seen this far more than we'd like. A fourth-round pick feels right if the Browns think he's a fit. Anything else is too much of a gamble (pun intended).

@JackGormanSport I think he might be worth a third honestly. The browns will probably get close to 500 this year, and are going to be out of range for a top QB without a trade. Seems like a prime opportunity to snag a top guy without having to trade up. The kid might be elite and cheap this way.

If we have the quarterback coach, and we have the contract the right way, we have the psychologists putting a stamp on it…if we can get aligned, I think this guy’s worth it. "I’m not there yet. We’ve been on the field for three practices." Todd Monken didn’t indicate that any one player currently has a strong lead over another for the QB1 spot. Monken did say he’d love to have a decision by training camp, but he also said things can change throughout the summer and into the preseason too. I always thought it was premature to claim someone was already winning a position competition in April after a couple sessions in shorts. But what do I know?
