this movie is so fucking evil and the worst people on the planet think it's Citizen Kane

The opening of Idiocracy (2006) does all the heavy lifting up front. One sharp, deadpan montage and the premise clicks instantly. Aged beautifully.

NEW: 18-year-old Chick-fil-A worker who found nearly $10,000 in the bathroom and returned it to its owner says he didn’t keep it because “That’s not what Jesus would’ve done. That’s not what God would’ve wanted.”
Jayden Cintron found $9,333 in cash inside two bank envelopes in a restroom while working a shift on Good Friday morning
He said he immediately felt something was wrong and turned the money over to his workplace’s HR department
Cintron said the decision was simple, “That’s not what Jesus would’ve done. That’s not what God would’ve wanted.”
The owner of the money gave him $500

Initially, this rubbed me the wrong way. But at the same time…he’s right. Ultimately, if they are putting on good shows…just appreciate that. No need to nitpick shit that barely matters. You pay for the fights. How they choose to promote their fights is not your concern. Watch or don’t. You’re not the head of marketing. I don’t like the cheap AI era we’re in either, but that’s their choice. If the sales drop maybe they’ll reconsider how they market, if they don’t - enjoy more slop.🤣 Company is always going to look for ways to cut their expenses.

@AndyMasley @snowset Is that why you quit being a teacher to beg for rich people’s money in DC?

@snowset At some point you age out of believing specific jobs are magic

Fine if people want to use their private property rights to reject extremely generous deals, but the way this is framed implies data centers are shifty for offering farmers crazy amounts of money. Older farmer goes on a crazy confused rant about food disappearing and they just air it without comment or clarification.
Farmers should be understood as one industry among many and not treated like they're magical sages who can see things the rest of us can't.

🚨BREAKING: Kentucky family rejects a $26 million offer to turn their farmland into a data center, roughly 10x the area’s going rate. “If it’s my way, I’ll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn’t mean anything.”

@agritechjoer Should we tear down every Chuck E. Cheese to build farms on the land?

There is a valuable lesson to be learned here— people with very little impulse control end up limited to a certain subset of jobs while people who can learn to understand social norms of their environment & have self control can advance further. Children see this as “being fake”

A weird experience that most people will never relate to is how embarrassing having the nicest car and watch amongst people with more wealth and IRL clout than you. It switches your perspective
