We also have fragmented interoperability and digital identity verification systems. Modern countries like Estonia and India rely on digital IDs that are verifiable for all residents, not just citizens, forming the bedrock of development. In Uganda, our fragmented digital IDs, digital payments, and mobile money platforms slow down growth. High transfer costs, slow cross-border payments, and disconnected systems make it difficult for businesses and citizens to participate in the digital economy. UDB’s role in providing patient and catalytic capital is critical to unify these systems and enable seamless participation in the global market. — Collin Babirukamu, Executive Director of Information Technology #RISE4UG2026

“At the RISE Technology Systems Mission, we are not just exploring ideas, we are reflecting on what is holding us back.” “Our biggest challenge as a country is a fragmented, siloed approach to modernization and digitization.” Babirukamu highlighted. #RISE4UG2026

TRIBUTE: The creator of Mobile Money has passed on!!! That’s what the headline should be reading today. Most people who hear this story are always skeptical but for those of us who were there, it’s as true a truth could ever be. Because of the naivety of youth and his trusting nature, Richard Obore, aka Richie K as we fondly called him would only see his idea come to life in the news. I will never forget the first day I met Richie K in early 1990. It was my first day in Nakasero PS as a fresh villager from Mbarara and him and William Nzarubara were the only kids in the whole school kind enough to welcome me and show me around the place, including teaching me how monkey bars was played. We later found ourselves together at MUK doing Computer Science and eventually did life together. In fact, on any random Saturday, if you looked for me, 95% chances were that I would be with Richie K at our “Kafunda” with the breakfast boyz. Always the life of the party, the guy whose laughter and very vocal arguments could be heard from a mile away. Always there. Always ready to hold your hand. Always willing to give you the last 50K he had if it was going to be more useful to you than him. Truly one of the most brilliant and yet selfless people I’ve ever known. And just like that, he’s gone. That’s two major hits for me in less than a month. It’s tough, not sure I can take too many more. Rest well bro. We’ll meet again.

Beauty for Ashes These are the words that stay with me as @CerinahTugume and I end our walk this morning. Beauty for ashes. Her life tells the story of a divine exchange, of God, again and again, turning pain into something purposeful, sorrow into something luminous. Of being reminded that beauty is not only what the world sees first, but what rises steadily from within. Cerinah was ten when her skin first began to change. She was young. Carefree. Unbothered. But as the vitiligo spread, so did the stares. The judgment. The unkindness, sometimes subtle, sometimes sharp. And it all unfolded during those fragile years when identity is already under construction, when self-acceptance feels just out of reach. Who am I? Where do I belong? Am I enough? Her journey since has been one of healing: slow, intentional, sacred. Learning to love herself. Learning to receive God’s radical acceptance. Learning to be at home in her own skin. Learning to forgive those who did not know better, and those who did. Healing. Acceptance. Freedom. Along the way, Cerinah discovered makeup. Not as something to hide behind, but as a form of self-expression. A language. A calling. And from that discovery, Serene Beauty was born. More than a makeup studio. It is a ministry. A space where women are seen, affirmed, and restored. A place of healing and wholeness. A place where, among others, women with vitiligo are not merely accommodated, but celebrated. Advocated for. Loved. What Cerinah offers the world flows directly from the work God has done, and continues to do within her. The exchange continues. Beauty for ashes. Strength for fear. Gladness for mourning. Peace for despair. A living testimony that nothing, no wound, no season, no sorrow, is ever wasted in God’s hands. #WalkTalkConnect #HealingJourneys #BeautyForAshes

I want to thank the NRM members for entrusting and electing me as the NRM Presidential flag bearer for the 2026-2031 term. In this economy, the GDP of Uganda has doubled currently in the recent Kisanja from $34 billion to $66 billion. You have everything today that you lacked in the past: electricity, roads, telephones, manpower, the educated people, and peace. That’s why we are being flooded by many investors because they are looking for a peaceful and profitable area where to invest.

How many strong men do you know…who are silently struggling? At the Absa Men of Valor Brotherhood Summit 2025, over 250 @AbsaUganda men came together, not to compete, but to connect. Not to perform, but to be present. Under the powerful theme “The Silent Load: Why Strong Men Must Still Speak,” we unpacked the unspoken pressures many men carry, and why it's time to make vulnerability part of our strength. From soccer fields to soul-filled reflections, the day brought laughter, learning, and honest conversations. With the support of @DavidAWandera, our Managing Director, and Patron of Men of Valor, and a heartfelt keynote charge from @colmug Collin Babirukamu, Executive Director IT at Bank of Uganda, we were reminded that silence isn’t strength, speaking up is. Because behind every title is a story. Behind every smile, sometimes, a silent load. And at @Absa, we don’t just say your story matters, we see your story! - Not only for customers, but also for our people. #MenOfValor #YourStoryMatters #WeSeeYourStory #MentalHealthAwareness #LeadershipWithHeart #BrotherhoodSummit
