After RAW, I took a bit of time to think about the direction they're going for regarding Finn's separation from The Judgment Day.
We all witnessed the fallout of Finn vs. Punk in Belfast, Finn did the right thing. He showed respect and most importantly he accepted defeat.
The dichotomy between past and present began after the respective flowers were given, Finn didn't attack Punk when he was celebrating when he absolutely could have. He chose not to.
When Punk told him to win the Rumble and ditch Judgment Day, he was nodding in silence knowing that he has been held back by other people who took precedence over him.
At this point we have to realise that, Finn is actually desperate. It's been a decade since he last won a world title and he knows time is running out to redeem himself so when he actually tried the honourable way with Pearce, the doors were shut down on him once again.
This is where Liv took advantage of the situation, of a conflicted Prince. The words Finn uttered "it's not straightforward" it has a double meaning. The situation for Finn, a warrior trying to find his path to glory. And the deceitful nature of the situation, Liv does not want Finn to succeed this has been evident for the past two years.
The desperation and the disdain he got when he tried the right way led to him going back to his old habits. The entire story can be summed up by what Punk said to Finn, "What do you want your legacy to be?". This is not a negation of Finn's face turn but rather adding layers to it. Layers of desperation which he has to shed from his skin.
As Finn said to Seth, "I'm living in chaos". He needs to be guided through that chaos and find what made him The Prince. The first ever Universal Champion.
