With the recent layoffs at Meta and many other companies due to increasing AI output, it seems like a good time to resurface this article I wrote a few months ago. I stand behind my prediction that big tech will continue layoffs and smaller teams will be more productive. Jobs won’t go away, but layoffs will continue. Instead of giant orgs with hundreds of thousands of employees, we’re now going to enter an age of hundreds of thousands of startups with small teams and immense output.

favourite thing about @tryreplicas is what it does to the team we pick up ways to be better engineers from watching how teammates prompt the agent, and everyone drops context + design notes on each other's PRs feels a lot like how tobi described river
