Today, Sinn Féin met with the British government and challenged them directly on their continued underfunding for people and communities here. The British government is making a disgraceful political choice to restrict funding for public services here, funding them to a much lower level than in Scotland and Wales. This is the same British government that just recently committed billions extra of taxpayers’ money for weapons of war. Once again, it shows Westminster’s absolute disregard for the needs of our people and communities.

The vicious knife attack in north Belfast was an appalling act, and the thoughts of everyone are with the victim. Those who acted with courage and selflessness to save a life deserve enormous credit, and the perpetrator must face the full weight of the law. But there can be no justification for the racist violence that followed. Masked loyalist gangs going into communities and burning families out of their homes is nothing short of racist thuggery. It must be called out for what it is. Leadership means rejecting fear and division, challenging the poisonous narratives that fuel hatred, and standing together against racism in all its forms.

I'm so grateful to have met so many of you in this election campaign 💚 You've shared your stories with me, your struggles, your frustration and anger with this government. But also your unshakeable hope for something better. I carry your stories with me every day. It's you and your family that drives me to want to help make things better for ordinary people, hardworking people who deserve the chance to live a decent life here in Dublin Central. The way things are right now is not normal and never should be. Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil just don't get it. They don't listen and they talk down to us. Proud and poignant commemoration in Camlough this morning for the 45th anniversary of our friend and comrade Raymond McCreesh. Beidh an bua againn go foil.

It was great to meet with Dave Doogan of the SNP and Liz Saville Roberts of Plaid Cymru, who both lead their parties at Westminster. We discussed the historic election results across these islands, which will see three nationalist and pro-independence First Ministers elected for the first time ever. We agreed to continue working together in common purpose to deliver for our people and their right to national self-determination. People are increasingly looking beyond the constraints of Westminster and towards a future where decisions are taken at home.
