Has anyone been able to find a solution to low butterfat results on milk recordings ? Latest one here is .6 lower than bulk tank reading. Would it be worth trying diy also ? Thanks

@LICIreland Thanks joe. Interesting. Icbf need to correct this if they want to widen and improve our gene pool. Surely there is a way. Get a DNA hair sample and run it through our genomic process instead of calculating from BW. ?

@conoryan41 Their fertility on EBI isn’t converted correctly. Busters fertility is 3.4 which is well above my target of 2. His longevity is 497 days which indicates they are lasting to 7th lactation. Beamer is similar, fertility of 2 and longevity of 465 days.

In 2017 I was lucky enough to receive 17 pedigree NZ Friesian embryo heifer calves from LIC, bred out of the Arkans herd. This is one of the top herds in NZ, having bred the Friesian bulls Beamer and Buster.

@LICIreland Also joe I've used jex few yrs ago and found the 1st cross super but i was disappointed with their offspring back to fr. Do u think u can keep/improve that production by continuing to cross over and back.Or what's the key to maintaining that 1st kick u get out of cross breeding

I couldn’t be more than pleased with these heifers. As a group they are predicted to average 516kg solids in first lactation. The Beamer (FR4372) heifers are the standout from the group averaging 4.79 fat and 3.96 protein.
