Mississippians, the work is just getting started! Historic legislation passed this year will secure the future of the outdoors, but we and our partners will still continue to promote and secure more funds for conservation. conserve.ms

Mississippi communities, counties, state & federal agencies, and charitable conservation organizations will be able to participate in projects that would provide:  ​-clean drinking water ​-improve access to public lands ​ conserve.ms

The effort to create a sustainable oyster industry is getting even more serious. What’s helping is a new collaborative program called Supporting Oyster Aquaculture and Restoration, operated through TNC/Pew Charitable Trusts and facilitated by USM’s Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.

A gardener in Pasco County, Florida recently found a giant African land snail.   ​ ​The giant African land snail gobbles up plants and can carry a parasite known to give people meningitis, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
