bl community pls take a minute to sign the petitions to stop royal caribbean from building a massive waterpark in mahahual quintana roo (méxico🇲🇽), which belongs to the second largest barrier reef in the world. it would obliterate the natural habitat of over 300 species. 🔗⬇️

🚨 KOSA is back and is going to be pushed through the Senate Commerce Committee markup some point in the future. This is after a rally put on by NCOSE, an extremist Christian right-wing group that likes to pretend it's anti-trafficking but is actually pro-censorship of everything
Ben Brody@BenBrodyDC

At rally with survivor parents earlier today, @SenateCommerce Chair Cruz said the committee would pass KOSA, COPPA 2.0 (which already passed the Senate), KOSMA and his new chatbots bill. The first three are his longtime priorities but markup time presumably draws near

Let me put it more into context. This would apply to things like Google Search, since it utilizes AI. Once age verification is normalized nationally, it will allow speedrunning passing bills like KOSA and worse. The GUARD Act must NOT pass.
Reclaim The Net@ReclaimTheNetHQ

Hawley's GUARD Act just passed committee 22-0. Every American would have to upload a government ID or submit to a face scan to use an AI chatbot. Even for asking for algebra help or fixing a billing issue. The framing is child safety but the result is a national ID system for talking to a computer. reclaimthenet.org/senate-panel-b…

the thing is, to make art, to fall in love, to do anything really worth doing, you have to risk embarrassment, humiliation, heartbreak. to do anything you have to risk being. and that's being in front of—or more scary, with—others.

Heads up that California's AB 1043, the Digital Age Assurance Act, is the model for this. It was signed into law by Newsom on October 13, 2025, and will take effect on January 1, 2027 for all new device setups and app downloads. Govt-mandated data harvest for big tech.

HR 8250 builds a total ID system that would allow the govt. to cross-reference verified users with NSPM-7 "domestic terrorism" lists, turning private devices into tethered ID cards where "unacceptable" speech may trigger mandatory lockouts from your devices

Shoshana Weissmann, Sloth Committee Chair 🦥
"Nicknamed the Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act, the bill would require the millions of Americans who use apps and play games on their phones to provide ID to do so. The legislation, of course, sells itself as a way to protect the children. In practice, however, it would serve only to eviscerate First Amendment rights and give Big Tech more data for hackers to steal. Congress should clear this bill from its legislative cache and find a way to protect children that doesn’t treat everyone like a kid." @garre
Washington Examiner@dcexaminer

OP-ED: Our federal congressional representatives struggle to keep up with email. You’d think putting them in charge of regulating mobile gaming would be widely recognized as a ludicrous idea. But that’s exactly what will happen if H.R. 7757 passes into law trib.al/SWPEqCr
