@Motor1com Avenger was okay in its final form thanks to the engine.
Car mags never gave the final 200 a second chance after the transmission firmware was fixed.
Faster than a Challenger V6, almost as quick as a @Pontiac G8 GT with factory parts. And 33 MPG on the highway in 9th lock.

Way too many people are trying to correlate the 2001 version of this car & the safety of the sport at the time to the mid-2000's.
They aren't the same.
Cars became safer, drivers were mandated more equip, & tracks got safer.
Gen-4 could have stayed.

@nascar_opinion Well they certainly were NASCARs, but they definitely weren’t “stock cars” in the typical sense.
Although these were probably the best NASCAR race cars. I think the manufacturers probably wanted something that more closely resembled the cars they were producing for sales
