Tesla has just released a new app update. Clips downloaded to your phone now finally include details such as speed, steering wheel angle, and Self-Driving state. No more screen recording FSD clips! Here’s what it looks like:

The fact the Tesla is launching Unsupervised Robotaxi right off the bat in Houston and Dallas makes me more bullish for the speed of the Cybercab rollout. I was expecting the Robotaxi rides in new cities to initially only be offered with safety monitors. Exciting times!

Okay, so $19 for the flight and $43 (converted from Euros) for a carry-on. Were already up to $62 with no checked bag. If you are unable to check in on their app or website or you need to ask the gate agent for assistance, there's a $65 airport check-in fee. If you miss your flight, most airlines will just put you on a different flight. Ryanair charges $118 missed departure fee. They also don't give you a gate assignment until about 40 to 60 minutes before the plane leaves, so don't wander too much in the airport and make sure you're at the screens waiting for your gate to be displayed. I used Ryanair for a quick flight from Manchester to Ireland and from Ireland to London. For the price you definitely get what you pay for and you have to be ultra prepared. It's far from laid back. I paid to leave my luggage in London to save around $200 in bag fees (they also charge by weight) and got to listen to the flight attendants read ads to me most of the flight. It's the Greyhound bus of the skies.

@Corbin630 @the_transit_guy Meh. It’s like 36 euro for a carry on. That plus their cheap fights are still less than almost anything we’ve got here. That’s what I paid late last year for my flight and carry on. Checked bags are like 80 euro tho and that’s where they get ya

This is also where it helps to know the routes. I could follow this blindly and that might be the most efficient, but I would rather charge longer in Beaver, UT and make it all the way Moapa, NV instead. The chargers in Mesquite are at casinos and it's a pretty long walk in to the bathrooms. In the car they will provide multiple route options and if I choose best amenities then it would likely skip Mesquite and put Moapa in instead.

Tesla doesn't tell you the target percentage for leaving, it gives you a time estimate. It also depends heavily on where you are going. In my experience, Tesla likes to hop from charger to charger unplugging at about 60 to 65% when there's tons of chargers on the route. If there's fewer chargers, then it will want you to stay until 75% or 80%. Here's an example from the Salt Lake Valley in Utah down to Los Angeles. That's a pretty nice road trip and I would actually probably stop more often than that so I can stretch my legs more. That's around 700 miles of driving.

IONIQ 5 at a Supercharger charges better (20-92%; was eating) even though it's limited to 97kW 💀 And this car needs zero preconditioning in hot temps--it cools itself automatically and quickly if needed after charging.

86kW @ 55% SOC is a whole new level of poor charging speeds for the new Model Y. Yes it was preconditioning for 70 miles before this charging stop. Yes I need another 45 minutes to get to my next charging stop. No this is not acceptable for the best selling EV on the market. Do better @Tesla @TeslaCharging

I'm not arguing at all that the Ioniq has a better charge curve and I keep showing stats that prove that. It's not an argument. I will disagree about the degradation and temperature sensitivity. You navigate to a supercharger and it does the work for you to precondition the battery. The Ioniq does the same thing except it can't do it if you use Android Auto or Apple Car Play. My brother in law has to switch to the terrible Hyundai native navigation when navigating to a charger just so it will precondition his car and, if he doesn't, then he has no hope of getting a fast charge. They both need to precondition and it's nice to never have to worry about it because the car just does it for you. The Ioniq 5 is a nice car, but the 15 minutes saved charging, typically when you already need to stop because you are road tripping, is not that big of a factor for me. I have driven cross country in my car and road tripped all over the place. There's times I wish my car charged like the Ioniq 5, but only a very small number of times each year. I would love Ioniq 5 charging in my Model Y, but I like just about everything else about the Model Y better personally.

@Corbin630 Regardless, this is a useless argument. The ioniq has a better curve regardless of the situation, end of story. The newer Tesla packs charge pretty terribly, have high degradation, and are seemingly very sensitive to temperature for DCFC, none of which apply to the IONIQ 5.

Ah I see. The car did slow down to an appropriate speed before the school zone began, then as the school zone was ending it sped up again, but it was technically still in the school zone. You shouldn't do that, but that's how all humans drive when they see the speed limit change sign. I would be shocked to see a cop pull you over for that and it isn't dangerous at all because he was already past the crosswalks. I get your point though about that technically being illegal.

@firefoxsimpp I was clarifying why the original post said there were 45 minutes left and then you went on about 55% to 90%, so that's how it came up. x.com/i/status/20441…

@Corbin630 Regardless of UI kerfufflery, 55-90% in 30 min is still worse than the IONIQ 5 even while on a supercharger/97kW On a modern 250+kW 800v charger, the IONIQ does it in 11 minutes.

Nobody said they were pulling in at 55%. The original post was at 55% and you brought up the 55% to 90% time which is where the Ioniq 5 really shines over the Model Y. I typically charge 10% to 70% and it's pretty damn fast. Here's the numbers you requested: Data from EVKX 10% to 70% Ioniq 5 - 15 minutes Model Y - 25 minutes 10% to 80% Ioniq 5 - 19 minutes Model Y - 33 minutes 10% to 90% Ioniq 5 - 33 minutes Model Y - 44 minutes 10% to 80% miles per minute (70 MPH Range Test) Ioniq 5 - 8.1 Model Y - 6.2

@IAmPoliticsGirl They are saving water by accelerating the transition to EVs. More water is wasted growing corn to be used as ethanol in gasoline than they could ever hope to use to cool servers. Also, the water is recycled, not destroyed to never be used again.

@firefoxsimpp I absolutely wish Teslas had better charging, especially in the 55% to 90% range, but the post is just extremely misleading.

Exactly why you really shouldn't charge above 70% on a fast charger unless really necessary. 10% to 70% is about 20 to 25 minutes on most Teslas. Per EVKX, the Ioniq 5 takes 14 minutes to go from 55% to 90% and the Model Y takes 27 minutes. That's significantly better for sure and going for a deeper charger isn't as big of an issue on the Ioniq 5 because of that, but the time savings isn't as much as it appeared if the original tweet is misinterpreted. 13 minutes saved is nice, but not as drastic as the 45 minutes that it looked like.
