U.S. House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation that would require electric vehicles to pay a $130 fee to pay for road repairs annually and $35 for some plug-in hybrid models.
The House is working on a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to cost more than $500 billion ahead of the current law expiration on Sept 30, 2026. Most revenue for federally funded road repairs is collected through diesel and gasoline taxes, which EVs do not pay.
I think $130 is fair since over time there will be fewer gas vehicles on the road generating tax revenue, They'll need to make up the difference somewhere so they can keep repairing roads, etc.

@_simplyclever_ Have had horrific experience with Samsung customer service in the past. They also have an infamously terrible ice maker here in the US. Seriously can't stand their products
LG on the other hand has been great. I haven't even needed to call for service because they've just worked

@brandenflasch @TheArkeTraveler I like the graphics but was quite disappointed by the CCS temperature performance, they made a big deal about the heat pipe but got hot quick in 85F ambient

I'm the bizarro @Michael_L_Rauch and getting a newish EV. Our Rivian R1S is staying. We'll replace the ~14 yr old base Subaru Forester. I got every bit out of that SUV. It's time to change for all electric.
The wheels haven't fallen off but they squeak on warm days.

$550 for the @TeslaCharging Universal Wall Connector is a killer deal - rock solid unit and the only EVSE on the market that does both J1772 and NACS. amzn.to/4dxpVKd Can use the @Tesla Remote Meter kit for dynamic load management too if you have a breaker spot but adding charging would exceed allowed load calc: amzn.to/4wohxVY I paid $650 + $250 for my UWC + meter kit hardware and now you can get it for $550 +$210!
