You have the stomach of something that ate whatever was dead and available. Your ancestors were not fussy. They were alive.

However if you need special equipment to determine compliance we have a problem. What happens at school meetings where they cannot afford this equipment?🤷‍♂️

Not a single one of the jobs you list is “100% safe from AI.”AI has crept into all & some for quite some time now. But of course, no need for immediate panic, full automation is not near, and some level of human execution and oversight will remain for the foreseeable future.

One of the things that surprises me about the distant future as envisioned by science fiction series such as @StarTrek is the distinct absence of new swear words.

@Grady_Booch @unclebobmartin and the belief the LLMs are going to solve this has not been proven. I do not see any real improvement in the capabilities or delivery of developers. I do see 'busy' people fighting with new tools and pushing code they do not understand. I only see a drop in quality.

@Grady_Booch @unclebobmartin I would suggest with the increase in demand for programmers a lot of people are pushed upwards into positions that demand more engineering discipline and scientific thinking. The gap between the demand and the supply keeps growing/

In the first decades of computer programming, there were no engineering principles. We just threw code at the machines and kept what worked. It has taken us 80 years to build up a minimal set of engineering principles -- and few yet follow and understand them. AI vastly increases the power of a programmer. That minimal set will have to be expanded. And those who don't use the minimal set will have to learn.

Sigh. Bob, really? The first few decades of programming was a vibrant time, filled with people who very much cared about discipline. Hopper, Dijkstra, Hoare, Yourdon, deMarco, Constantine, Bauer, Naur, McIlroy, Perlis, Gallar, Writh, Randell...the list goes on and on. Stop spreading your usual bullshit.

People ask me what I eat on carnivore. "Beef. Mostly beef." But specifically what? "Mostly mince from the supermarket. Occasionally a ribeye when I feel extravagant." But where do you get your fibre? "I don't." But what about your microbiome? "It appears to be thriving." But the studies say... "What studies? Sponsored by whom?" This conversation has been happening for five years. My health has been excellent for five years. The studies remain concerned.
