Now consider the risk of legacy SaaS companies laying off a high percentage of their engineering staff, who have the full domain knowledge used to build their products. The better play might just be carrying a lot more Bigheads on the Hooli payroll.

Figma shipped a silent patch specifically to kill figma-use — my open-source tool that did what they wouldn't: an MCP server that creates and modifies designs, JSX export, design linting. Then they scrambled to catch up with their own MCP server. So I spent the weekend recreating @Figma from scratch. OpenPencil: reads and writes .fig files, AI chat with full design tools, P2P collaboration with zero servers, ~7 MB app. No account, no subscription. Three days, one developer, MIT license. openpencil.dev

@mikedemarais Where it shines for me is it can act based on any external event: a cron job, an every thirty minute heartbeat, an incoming email, a text from a friend. They’re now all inputs to an AI personal assistant. And I can set up a new automation w/a simple message from anywhere.

anyone able to explain the core value prop of clawd.bot to me? / explain why everyone is losing their minds over it right now? the hype had me reading the docs last night, but i still unsure exactly what the value prop is like is it about being able to control Claude Code via Telegram? or is it about its baked-in memory features like that it learns from use? bc both of those things are somewhat commodity at this point aren't they? is clawdbot fundamentally different than something like vibetunnel, or takopi? github.com/banteg/takopi

@Dimillian The task modifier is already main actor because it inherits from the SwiftUI View being MainActor, no?

Many moons ago, some guy created Tetris running inside a PDF. Now we also have Snake running inside a PDF, thanks for Claude inside Sitegeist (browser use Chrome extension). You can play it here: sink.mariozechner.at/api/share/3b10… cc @steipete

@nikitabier Nice. Next let’s make the app not cut out music you’re listening to when you open it.

After 18 years, this bug is finally fixed.
Jesse Pujji@jspujji

Request for @nikitabier. I see it on all social platforms. I load the app, see something I want to read. Then the feed reloads and I lose it… can we fix this?

@steipete I wonder how long until the AIs are banning human-written slop from their own discourse channels 🙃

@steipete Such a weird line to draw. What about spell check? Google translate? Grammarly, Textio? Evernote? Voice to text? Writers of all levels publish on the internet, and slop is not exclusive to LLMs. The value of the writing should be judged on its own merits.

Funny to see this old argument again (over at Bluesky) My website is banned on lobste.rs as “startup slop”, because I use agents to help me write parts of my blog posts. I find that discussion quite interesting. I make no secret out of that and my repo is open source, you can see exactly how I work and how much effort is in each post, down to every git commit. At what point does it make a difference if you spend 4 hours prompting an agent to craft your thoughts into a post vs writing it manually? What defines slop? Some posts I care a lot and write every word myself. Some are things I learn, but given the 1000 things I do, I would likely not have cared enough to take my notes and put them online, and they have a dual goal of being documentation for humans and really also a guide for agents (like the one to fix logging on macOS) Would it be a better outcome to stop sharing these things and only allow the posts that each take me half a day to write on, so some people are not hurt in their feelings? I say feelings because I tried to discuss with the moderators and was insulted and my work diminished. Almost like there’s sth bigger they hate when it comes to AI and I’m just the face they can project that to in that very moment. With such a reaction I’m not mad that they block me. It is an interesting discussion tho, since I also hate reading slop. But you can create slop with or without agents, as you can create great work with or without. Probably worth a blog post. Let me start claude. 🙃

One of the core features of most languages is human ergonomics, but that’s also what leads to lots of ambiguity for ai (implicit returns, function overloads, type coercion).

Thought experiment: if you were designing an ideal programming language to work w/the shortcomings of today’s AI Agents, how would it differ from programming languages written for humans?

@steipete @koeckc Yep, just runs in your own env, no data going to Anthropic’s cloud. Big company stuff… but its metered token usage only so costly. Advantage for those that can ignore it.

Kinda nuts how many companies are not yet on the agent train. They’ll be steamrolled before they know it.
