Today I am anxious.
I’m spending the day cleaning my house and preparing for the worst because tomorrow night I start my first cycle of 12 rounds of chemotherapy. Almost a year of chemo. I’ve never done this before. This definitely was not on my bingo card.
So far, I’ve managed brain surgery and 33 sessions of radiation fairly well. But this part feels unknown, and the unknown can be scary if you let your mind run too far ahead.

Today, my mom turns 83.
82 was a tough year. I’d appreciate some #birthday prayers for her. 🥲

Obama said:
“Islam has always been a part of America’s story. And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States.”
According to Obama, Muslims have been part of this country since the beginning, they have contributed to America’s history, and they continue to bring value to this nation.

On this day 13 years ago, my only son was sworn in to the US Army. In ten days, it will be 12 years since he was killed in Afghanistan 2 weeks before he was due to come home. He was just 21. This week is also Memorial Day. My greatest fear now is that he will be forgotten. Please help me remember my boy during this tough week of special dates (share if you feel inspired. It never gets easier but the love and support always helps. ♥️🇺🇸

Jake was a Christian, an athlete, a patriot, an artist, dog lover, a friend to all and the funniest, happiest guy in the platoon. Jake, you’ve left a huge void in our lives, but we will see you one day and there will no more heartache and no more goodbyes ♥️🇺🇸
