NEW: For the first time, ProPublica has been able to quantify how many U.S. citizen children have been directly affected by Trump’s immigration crackdown: more than 11,000 kids had a parent detained — and that’s an undercount. 1/ 🧵 propublica.org/article/trump-…

Trump is radically cutting wages for migrant farmworkers in the H-2A visa program because his @USDOL admits that deportations will raise food prices. @NYtimes cites research from @BenZipperer and I showing US farmworkers will also see a $3 billion pay cut nytimes.com/2026/03/15/us/…

A not-so-happy #LongCovid Awareness Day: Millions are now ill and disabled, with many left behind by society. This @LAtimes article discusses some of the severe challenges that people with LC face, and the lack of a social safety net or treatments for them latimes.com/science/story/…

Long COVID Campaign

Today is #LongCOVIDAwarenessDay worldwide. While it is a somber day for so many who are grieving so much loss, we want to reflect on some of the advocacy wins over the past year—made possible by the community—which move us closer to effective treatments & cures 🧵

Wish I had more energy to write a real Long COVID awareness day article or thread but I don’t. In Nov ‘23 I caught COVID, I went on to become homebound & have never recovered. I was vaccinated & boosted. Debilitating migraines are just one of the issues I developed from COVID.

“You’re not just becoming disabled,” said Elle Seibert, 31, who has dealt with debilitating fatigue and cardiac symptoms since 2020. “You’re realizing how easily society at large and people in your life will abandon you when you cannot offer them things.” latimes.com/science/story/…

Long covid and disability justice seems to not even be remotely on the radar of progressives and leftists:
charlos@loscharlos

For #LongCovidAwarenessDay—I’d love folks to consider their values in relation to their approach to this crisis: “Governments modelling abandonment.. in time of crisis signal support to fascist, eugenicist & Nazi logic.. pandemics can give rise to fascist political economies”

It's Long COVID Awareness Day. Americans are still grappling with COVID’s repercussions, including Long COVID. I'll keep working to support research and education on this condition and other infection-associated chronic conditions.

The #LongCovidAwarenessDay (today) is important because in many countries and regions around the world, long COVID is not discussed and people are suffering in isolation. Awareness is needed to improve diagnosis, medical care, research, and support of patients 💙

We are now seeing solid evidence that Trump's increased immigration enforcement is not leading to better outcomes for US-born workers - in fact, the opposite is happening, with joblessness increasing for native-born workers as deportations increase: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@lamestain__ @suchnerve The language there just sounds purely anecdotal (i.e. “many users”). There must be published research somewhere showing that a negative PCR test means a person won’t infect someone for X number of hours? Looking for more info on this. @virus_sucks_

@suchnerve „While there is no "golden rule", many users have successfully avoided household infections with a re-test window of ~12 to – at most – 24 hours.“ It only mentions this and doesn’t differentiate by swab location

Yet again. 🥰 Btw if you test someone else, a negative result means they can’t give you Covid for 24 hours (if nose swab) or 48 hours (if throat swab). (Actual timing is variable; I chose the available data’s shortest durations, so the window of safety could be even longer.)

Negative for Covid, as always. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (I test every week to check for asymptomatic infection because I have multiple health conditions that make me high-risk; I use the PlusLife machine specifically because it’s the most reliable of all available methods that take under an hour.)

A single Covid infection can permanently destroy your immune system, (yes even if you’re fully vaxxed). That’s why it’s so crucial to actually prevent infection by wearing a respirator mask and ventilating the air

Bernie proved in 2020 that Latino voters respond positively to an economic populist message. It’s appealing more to the Dem voter base now too, not just the left. Candidates who ignore that are committing political malpractice.
Sabrina Rodríguez@sabrod123

New: Talarico’s bet that Hispanic voters would make him the Democratic nominee for Texas Senator paid off. How’d he do it? Leaning on faith & economic populism. Plus, knowing where to reach them (i.e Latino TikToker videos, ads during Premio Lo Nuestro). wsj.com/politics/elect…

H-2B rules drive down wages and standards - leaving 170K migrant workers exploitable. The reforms are simple but have lacked political will: keep bad employers out of the program, raise wages, improve worker protections, and create a path to a green card: epi.org/publication/th…

DHS deporting hundreds of thousands and canceling temporary statuses like TPS while simultaneously doubling the H-2B visa program, where migrant workers are indentured & have little power. Trump likes "foreign labor" as long as employers (like him) can control & underpay workers.
U.S. Department of Labor@USDOL

The globalist status quo is OVER. No more offshoring. No more prioritizing foreign labor. No more unfair trade. Under President Trump’s leadership, our only goal is to put AMERICAN WORKERS FIRST 🇺🇸
