On October 13, 1917, an estimated 70,000 people gathered at Fátima, Portugal, after the Blessed Virgin Mary reportedly promised the three shepherd children that a miracle would occur. Witnesses — including journalists and skeptics — reported seeing the sun appear to spin, change colors, and move across the sky in what became known as the “Miracle of the Sun.”
