@edzitron This is so weak. So because the COO can't directly view the correlation to AI and revenue its bad? Imagine they stop using AI, the competition will out-update them, they will ship less and fall behind and lose customers, then its impact will be clear. Stop listening to idiots.

Uber’s COO has said that it’s getting “harder to justify” its AI costs because there was no way to show a link between AI spend and any meaningful increase in useful features. This is the first time I’ve seen a company say this directly. businessinsider.com/uber-coo-andre…

@MrsCMFrancis But they literally can’t afford it. We either live in capitalism, where we allocate resources (like housing) by price signals, or we don’t. Why should the elderly be exempt from the rules the rest of us live by?

@cougian @geauxnick They won 15 against tournament teams and many of those teams aces or pitchers they’d face. Idk what else you want .

@HowTheProsDo @geauxnick On UK’s best day, they’re good. Nobody is arguing that. If they were around ,500 in conference with splits against the good teams and wins against the bad teams, I’d be inclined to agree with you. But their losses are BAD. Multiple series losses to the worst teams in the SEC.

@cougian @geauxnick It’s just crazy to point out their losses and ignore the quality wins no other bubble team had. Mercer beat GTech ok. That was it lol. If you have a gripe it’s against Troy and nc st not UK. Oh and Mercer cancelled their series against UK. But we focus on UK cancelling 1 game

@HowTheProsDo @geauxnick South Carolina beat Kentucky twice and then didn’t win again the rest of the season, 13 straight losses. Vanderbilt beat UK 3 out of 4 times and didn’t make the tourney. At some point, don’t you actually have to win some games to belong in the tournament? I guess not anymore

@HowTheProsDo @geauxnick Is Kentucky a better team than Mercer? Maybe. RPI says no, but RPI isn’t everything. Since April 1, UK is 9-15 with series losses to Vanderbilt (RPI 72), South Carolina (138) and Missouri (108). And a first round tourney loss to that same Vanderbilt team.

It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

@HowTheProsDo @geauxnick We’re picking on Kentucky because they’re undeserving of a spot. They’re the 13th best team IN THEIR OWN CONFERENCE. Sub-.500 record in conference. One and done in the conference tourney. Taking that resume over a regular season conference champion with 40+ wins is insane.

@geauxnick You’re picking on Kentucky when you should be picking on Texas st, nc st, etc. But we don’t like facts we just like to repeat garbage from a few

@bjackso0 @davidghugh I would rather reward Mercer for winning their games than reward Kentucky for losing theirs. I thought that’s what playing sports was all about. You seem to disagree and want to give the 13th best SEC school a participation trophy because they tried real hard.

@cougian @davidghugh So reward Mercer for playing 5 non-conf series that were Q4? UK played 1 Q4 non-conf series. Do you think if they played 4 more games against Q1 teams that they would win all 4 and have same record as UK against top8 seeds (5-4)? 15 wins against tourney teams as well.

Can someone explain how Mercer is #28 in RPI yet exclude from the NCAA Baseball Championship? Never been a top 30 RPI team get left out. They won the SOCON, won 44 games, beat GT. Yeah, stumbled in the conf tourney. But if RPI is the ultimate determinant, how are they excluded?

@davidghugh @cougian Fair point. So, punish big conf for playing great teams? Mercer played 5 games against Q1 (1-4), got blasted 22-5 and 19-2 in 2 of those 4 losses. Why does every1 have prob w/ UK but not NcSt/TxSt/Troy/etc? Would Mercer be 5-4 against top8? The small sample size says no..

When he was Mr. DOGE, Elon Musk routinely said batshit craxy things, like there are 20 million dead people getting Social Security. And he never corrected himself.l Is there any reason to believe he is more serious in running his businesses?

@bjackso0 @davidghugh Losing 80% of the conference series you played means you’re not a good team. You can beat all the other good teams you want, but losing that many games means you’re inconsistent at best, and consistently winning (Mercer) should outweigh consistently losing (Kentucky)

@davidghugh Kentucky had a better resume than Mercer and pretty much every other bubble team. Every1 caught up on series losses but not looking amount of quality wins.

Honestly, I’m sick and tired of grown adults calling the climate crisis a hoax. It’s not even a debate, the science has been settled for decades. Your ignorance is not just embarrassing, it is actively destroying the planet and every living thing on it.
