While I'm whining, stop putting up feedback UI like this, that after I click on it, it then wants me to really explore my feelings before it'll accept it:

Why did this UI pattern become popular on websites? If you give me a username and password field on the same page, my password manager autofills both. When you have to do it in two stages, this makes me type in my email address before my password manager notices.

@joshgnosis Whoever filmed this ad knew exactly what they were doing - evoking the sharehouse in a dingy old rental that only has a single GPO per room (if you're lucky!)

@saurik I would even argue that using "friends" on Discord kind of sucks! The DM features on Discord are not particularly good for various reasons, with group DMs particularly limited. I even feel like I saw an official response at some point that said to use servers!

Of course, this is assuming Discord users actually need to be able to easily add each other as "friends" in the first place. As far as I've seen, from my own use of Discord, random people sending friend requests are mostly scams: the service is about communities, not direct chat!

I don't know if anyone is still tracking the great 2023 @discord username Musical Chair Party; but, if you don't get your preferred username, and feel there is any chance you will negotiate/talk with the user that did, I'll recommend not setting an alternative temporary username.

@mattcomi Always-On screen is pretty jarring too. You can't interact with the UI elements! (Plus ugly animations like scrolling song titles that update randomly 1/min)

One of the most jarring interactions on an iPhone is when you have the brightness all the way down so that it can’t dim to indicate inactivity, so instead, it just suddenly turns off.
