@G_StarYT yeah, it creates key man risk and hurts valuation but it’s usually addressable. VO is harder to solve but probably not an issue soon with AI getting really good

My biggest weaknesses as a 21 year old business owner are: - Shiny object syndrome. - not letting others take up decision making roles - Saying no to tasks, questions that provide no value to me - Anything administrative - Letting others talk before me in meetings.

@Gexpo_ yeah sometimes its necessary to make the short term play in order to put yourself in a position to make the long term play like if you don’t know how you’re going to pay for your rent next month, then the long play might take way too long and short play is the only viable option

@cpmullican Tbh, I don’t 100% agree with this vision there are different ways to play. The most durable is what you mentioned, but trend chasing is nice too. I made my first money investing $50, and for many, it’s the only option without money for branded channels.

If you have a “Managed” content owner / CMS, or are linked to a managed CMS, you are somewhat immune to the automatic content ID screening, but you can still get strikes manually. At least this was true years ago, so I’d guess it hasn’t changed. If you’ve been on YouTube for a while you might remember MCNs offering “managed” partnerships vs “affiliate” partnerships. People are getting bored with youtubers saying exactly what they're doing from the first second This gives you an opportunity to be creative and find a new way to re-affirm the title & thumbnail without doing it mrbeast style Think outside the box

@oligilpin Probably true in the specific case your posting about, but doesn’t seem like a great general rule in my experience at least. I’ve found that doubling down with more content when the channel has some momentum is super important and will often compound

YouTube advice you've probably never heard publicly: If your channel's earnings/long-form views are growing without posting -- then don't post... I learned this in March 2024, after losing out on $10,000 due to the views declining...
