I love how they believe money spent by the government is just literally set on fire and disappears. If the government builds houses, invests in industries and infrastructure... this wealth then grows over time. A thing that short termist right wingers have no understanding of - its literally how we built modern Britain.
Rob Moore@robprogressive

The total wealth of UK billionaires is £772.8 billion If Labour took all of it, it would fund the country for around 7.8 months So are billionaires really the issue, or is it how money is being spent

@WasSamLowryEsq @AaronBastani You think it's 10y to b/e because you've done it in the most expensive way possible. In the UK we can now buy 450w panels for £60. It is trivial to install this yourself if you know how to access a roof safely- with a micro inverter it pays for itself within the first summer

Solar panels being installed in the car park of our local hospital. Fantastic! This isn’t ‘woke’. It’s a cheap, reliable source of energy - and is *part* of ensuring British energy security.

It's difficult to defend British food... Bread sauce is a traditional British dish with origins tracing back to at least medieval times, likely evolving from even earlier European peasant cooking. It began as a practical way to thicken and enhance sauces using stale bread, one of the most common household staples. By soaking bread in milk or cream and adding spices, cooks created a simple yet rich accompaniment for roasted meats. The version most familiar today took shape in England during the 18th and 19th centuries. It became especially associated with roast poultry—particularly turkey and chicken—and grew into a staple of holiday meals, including Christmas dinners during Victorian era Britain.

The Green’s new salary control policy would cause an immediate tax loss of more than £50bn. Using the Green Party’s policy pairing of a 10:1 pay ratio with a £15/hour minimum wage, the implied annual income cap is about £292,500. This would affect the top 0.36% of income taxpayers, who account for 19% of total income tax & 8.5% of total salary. Roughly two-thirds of that group’s pay is above the implied cap, meaning that the tax that would be lost is about £52bn a year, made up of roughly £41bn income tax, £1.3bn employee NI, & £9.9bn employer NI. Of course the real loss would be much larger, as significant chunks of economic activity moved out of the UK and necessary skills would not be able to be found.
