Why I made hotdrop: Back in 2016 I made my first YouTube video. I thought I could do it. I thought I could be something. Someone. I have screenshots on my phone of reaching milestones. Random ones, too - like when a new video was doing well and my views for the last 24 hours was good! When I was around 300 subs, I noticed a bunch of email alerts for new subscribers. A larger content creator had referenced a video I made! It was a special moment. At the time seeing the new subscribers and comments was awesome. But what emerged from that was even more special. What I’ve come to learn is that in content creation, some of the most impactful moments are when you don’t feel small. It could be someone liking a video, or commenting. It could be someone coming and talking to you in stream. Or even just someone tagging you. Confirmation that what you’re doing, the choices you’re making, that they matter and mean something and are being recognized. Dignity. For as wonderful as the creator ecosystem is, it has gaps. And not one single place addresses these things entirely. I built hotdrop because I believe it’s the missing piece. It’s the piece I would have told @cbgray_ about when we were doing our toys for tots stream in 2018. It’s what I would have told @Marcusbgaming about when I introduced myself to him after finding his channel mentioned in a Reddit thread all those years ago. It’s what I would have told @Shellski5 to join whe she was considering streaming for the first time. It’s the place I would have told @PAID2BFAMOUS and @ThatUnknownyt about because it because their dreams and goals have a home there. Hotdrop is a place where the content creator ecosystem can simply exist. It’s a place that will feel familiar to you because of the features, but even more so because of who is there. I built this piece by piece over 5 months. Hundreds of hours, thousands of miles doordashed. I built this because it’s what I think the creator space deserves. And I sincerely hope and pray it deserves you.

I know, I paid for a blue checkmark. L! This is the most important post I've ever made and sincerely hope anyone reading it retweets it. I'm a creator. My YT and Twitch are a huge part of my identity. I love it and I'm incredibly thankful for it. I've streamed for thousands of hours. Made hundreds of moderately popular youtube videos where I had to start over multiple times because I messed up talking. I don't have massive reach or unlimited resources, just 5 months of building through doubt, uncertainty, and every piece of conventional wisdom saying "don't." I've done my best to make a platform that the creator world deserves. Because belief and conviction overpowered those things, just like those same emotions fuel creator dreams. This tweet is unsettling to me. Chasing a dream should be celebrated. But the way it’s portrayed here minimizes or fails to acknowledge the systemic issues that lead to that streamer profile. The replies attack these streamers. Not her intent, yet its a product of the message.

Genuinely wish I got it on console for now till this was dealt with
