Still feel this way in mid-July. Especially after a listless 10-1 loss to the White Sox. Great start to the second half. The Pirates are THE worst team in mlb. Doesn’t matter the records. I would completely switch batting lineups with anyone that has a worse record. There hasn’t been a worse offense in the last several years. When a guy that is ONLY still playing because the NL instituted a DH is leading your offense (Cutch), that’s a problem. It’s year 6 of the rebuild. After the trade deadline, the Pirates will basically be back to year one of yet ANOTHER rebuild. How does GM Ben Cherington still have a job? Why is he being allowed to orchestrate another one??? As the #Illini sit at 17-10 overall and 9-8 in conference play, disappointment is understandable. However, Illinois isn't alone. Even some of the top blue-blood programs in college basketball are having challenging seasons. The Kansas Jayhawks: 17-9 overall, 8-7 in conference play Notable losses: Creighton (63-76), Iowa State (57-74), Kansas State (73-81), and a tough blowout against BYU (57-91). The North Carolina Tar Heels: 15-11 overall, 8-6 in conference play A surprising loss of note: Louisville (70-83). The difference for Illinois? Injuries. When the Illini are healthy, they look like a completely different team. Until then, patience is key—this season might not be what fans envisioned, but they're certainly not alone.

For those in the back, there’s a difference between asking a coach a tough question and being disrespectful just because you're upset over a loss or how a team is performing. It’s absolutely fair to ask meaningful questions, but there’s no rule that says you need to be rude to make yourself look better. That approach won’t get you anywhere with the team you cover, trust me.
