Love or hate Conor McGregor he does represent the views of many Irish people. Martin & Harris can say what they like with their statements but plenty are glad he used his platform to raise the issues he did today.

If you're side isn't organised enough to do that, then your electorate isn't half as bothered about the issues as they seem to proclaim on social media.

I think the best way to think about this is to ask yourself what your reaction would be if Cristiano Ronaldo said that the Portugese Government was running Portugal into the ground, and Luis Montenegro denied it and said "Ronaldo doesn't speak for Portugal".

The greatest example of the capitulation of leadership of the Irish political class is the fact that Conor McGregor, of all people, now speaks for more ordinary folk than they do. This either blows over - unlikely but possible- or becomes a serious problem for FF/FG - v. likely

@GL_Kavanagh @quinnfergal I like my publications to be credible sources of information. Gript comes with an agenda, an agenda it wears on its sleeve to be fair, but one which dominates its editorial line on what it does (and does not) report, far more than any other Irish publication in my view.

It’s amazing that none of the articles criticising the President quote his speech - which contains a call for peace & humanitarian aid in Gaza. For some people even that demands a protest.
