@regulatorynerd I was wrong, I was in 21F (dynamic island doesn’t lie). Tell me this - how can you have “Confirm” details and “Confirm” I agree with all terms on a single “Confirm” button? seems problematic to me. Conclusion was the checkbox style separating ECA and Account Agreements is best.

@craver Story checks out! But Chime still has a ton of fraudsters and side accounts, notwithstanding your test one.

On the plane to Money 2020 and the guy in front of me is signing up for Chime, so you know he’s getting ready to hide some debauchery from his wife and also commit some light fraud.

JUST finished the Slides for my Keynote at Northeastern's PM conference (in Boston, MA)… and decided to share all the slides. 👇 The Aspiring Product Managers Club @ Northeastern University invited me to break down product strategy in 2025. So many things have changed about strategy since the last content you read: 1. New AI prototyping tools have released 2. Annual planning gets outdated faster than ever 3. PM has become flatter, emphasizing super-IC work I wanted to create a breakdown of how to handle this. So I've spent the past week hunkered down... Collecting all the best insights. Want my slides? Shoot me a DM and reply below. I'll respond with the deck!

🌇The sun will set at 4:51 pm in San Francisco this evening. That's the earliest of the year. 🤔Why doesn't that occur on the Winter Solstice?

@michaelzlin @MinyiShen i wish it was easier to be green, especially here. look up NEM 3.0 if you want to be further enraged at how CA residents are basically disincentivized to install solar. 😔

@craver @MinyiShen Thanks. As we're not heavy EV drivers, that plan would raise my costs, based both my manual look at our electricity usage and the PG&E online rate recommendation tool.

Residential electricity rates in the Bay Area are >2x the national average, at about $0.50 per kWh. But every Chargepoint EV charger I've seen charges <$0.50; most are around $0.30. I doubt the charger owners are losing money. Are consumers subsidizing businesses?

@michaelzlin @MinyiShen I hear ya, TOU is not consumer friendly, but my spreadsheet math shows we come out ahead on the EV plan. I’m also my dad, going around turning off lights after 3p. And we shift clothes washing and the dishwasher to off peak. I wish CA made it easier and led by example.

@craver @MinyiShen That just increases your rates in daytime hours, so actually further proves the point. Was complaining about e- rates in general, not just for people with EVs

@MinyiShen Actually I didn't notice the recent drop in gas costs. Indeed we are now paying the same per mile on the EV as on the ICE car, if we charge at home.

@peter I started the exact same thing last month. I start out by saying, "I’m writing this to both of you to share some of the important things that I’ve learned over my 45 years. My hope is that there might be a few “cheat codes” for you in living a happy and fulfilling life."

Been reflecting on life recently and started writing a letter to my children. Perhaps a self indulgent exercise, but rooted in a desire to pass along (often hard won) knowledge and to shortcut future suffering. An excerpt: “Over time, as we get older, doubts creep in: peer pressure; society’s expectations; other people’s motivations and schemes; mean girls; cute boys; the lure of money, fame, status; shortcuts to success — all these things push and pull on us, trying to divert us from our path. One of the hardest things in life is to stay true to yourself. It is one of the most important and valuable things precisely because it is so hard.”

@waltrcox I agree with that sentiment 💯, but haven’t seen it play out that way (yet). You’re playing with 🔥 if you think otherwise, imho. Case in point where customer funds were impacted and no known finding to the underlying sponsor bank…
craver@craver

@regulatorynerd Good example. Worth noting that MetaBank (issuer), wasn’t part of this CFPB order. This case was a botched processor conversion (Mastercard MPTS being the ‘converting to’ issuer processor). Findings the processor and program manager (Rush). But how does the issuer dodge this?!?

Do other banks rely on third party software to correctly ledger FDIC insured funds? Yes (some). Should they? No. Other banks (ie Bancorps) learned/implemented "shadow" DDA's a decade ago for this exact reason. Failure of third party ledger doesn't absolve bank responsibility
Jason Mikula@mikulaja

@sankaet McWilliams: "Let me also clarify, so, what you're saying is a DDA or FBO account at Evolve could have Synapse funds in addition to end user and platform funds in them?" Pathak: "Exactly" If Synapse wasn't potentially co-mingling, can you clarify what you meant in that answer?

2/ First, the best example of consumers not being able to access their funds I can think of is the UniRush issue from 2017. It cost Mastercard and UniRush $13M. $10M went to the consumers harmed by the issues.
