The United States has filed an amicus brief in Granata v. Campbell, a case challenging the Massachusetts handgun roster. That roster is slightly less onerous than California's version, which is being challenged in Renna v. Bonta and Boland v. Bonta (which are consolidated on appeal, and have been awaiting a ruling for well over two years now). While those cases have a tough panel, and the First Circuit hearing Granata is obviously going to be just as bad or worse, DOJ's support could up the chances of a cert grant on this issue.
