After serving the Cardano ecosystem since 2021 and sharing an incredible journey with thousands along the way, we’ve reached a point where the JPG Store & Comet platforms have to be sunset. While we deeply value the people who have supported us, the platforms have reached a stage where they are no longer sustainable to operate. JPG Store & Comet will continue to be online until the 23rd of May. After which, the website will be shut down, though the smart contracts will continue to live on. 🧵1/6

Atomic swaps do not require third party HTLC are scripts based on time and hash, already used by many L2s on Bitcoin to swap against Bitcoin But what's the advantage of UTXOs over Account model for these swaps? Why Cardano over ethereum for this? Determinism. On Cardano you don't have to make a transaction to deploy a smart contract. On Bitcoin you don't have to spend satoshi to create a script address. That allows both parties to verify and be 100% sure that the address they are sending money to is really the one that has the right parameters. Futhermore the function verify_ecdsa_secp256k1_signature that was introduced in plutus during valentines fork makes every smart contract to verify in a permissionless way that a bitcoin user is approving something on Cardano This can be used for intent actions for external wallets on Cardano Atomic swaps are not the final goal.
