@arthurwatkins It IS illegal to have a knife/weapon on school property. He was suspended and not supposed to be there in the first place. So he brought a weapon on school property, sat in another teams tent and refused to leave when asked. He created the situation.

Because he was getting attacked. It’s not illegal in state of Texas to have a knife. He came looking to protect himself. Is protecting yourself allowed in Texas? Yes or no!
Amanda@AmandaH53287213

@arthurwatkins Why was he holding the knife open and concealed the whole time he was in the tent? That doesn’t feel very “Southern Hospitality” the whole thing happened in 10 minutes. He came looking for a problem. Same as Feb 4 when he was involved in an altercation and subsequently suspended

@ChiTownPanthera They can defend themselves...they (or anybody) can't just murder somebody who touches them. They is NOT self defense in any state. He was not in danger and was free to leave at any time. He was asked to leave several times and refused. He created the situation.

Why don’t we just say it out loud. Karmelo was guilty the moment he came to the track. He really could have sat anywhere and gotten treated like he was treated. Anywhere. He could have crossed paths by walking next to or close to the twins and would have gotten bullied. This is the conclusion though. It is against the law for black people to be anywhere and defend themselves when someone touches them. When we are spat on we are expected to turn the other cheek. When we are beaten down we are expected to curl up in a fetal position and cry. When we are berated we are expected to shut up and let it happen. No justice.

@prmade313raised @ginamilan_ Not even close...not in any state. Self defense laws are pretty clear. If you are not in imminent danger of being dying, it's not self-defense. Touching/pushing is not enough to make that case..especially since he was asked to leave and refused. He could have left at any time.

@LeighBrannigan3 @Braves012345 @rahiemshabazz Jury was not "all white"....there were other minorities and people of color on the jury (Asians, Hispanics). Just not blacks because the blacks in the jury pool admitted, during jurors interviews, that they could not be impartial. Glad they were honest, but that is why.

If Karmelo Anthony was truly the aggressor, why has the video not been released to the public? A clear video could answer many questions, address public skepticism, and either confirm or challenge competing narratives. In a case that has generated intense public debate, transparency would go a long way toward restoring confidence and allowing people to evaluate the facts for themselves.

@Omowale99949437 You are the perfect example of why there were no black people on the jury. You don't have the ability to be non-biased. Thank goodness the black jury candidates admitted they wouldn't convict him and got themselves dismissed. At least they were honest, which is more than you.

He has multiple grounds for an appeal. He had an all white jury in a racially charged case. The district attorney removed potential Black jurors during jury selection without strong, race neutral reasoning, which is called a "Batson Violation". The judge had errors in his instructions to the jury on what self defense is.

As a mother of two Black sons, what’s happening to Karmelo Anthony is one of my greatest fears. My heart breaks for him, his mother, and his family. He deserves justice. Black mothers live with this fear every single day that our sons skin, height, or presence could change their lives forever. This burden is too heavy. Mothers, what do you feel reading this? Everyone, be honest. what’s your take?

@dre1021 Because the black folks in the jury pick were dismissed by attorneys when they said they couldn't be impartial...one said he couldn't convict him due to his age, another said he couldn't "send a brother to prison".

My issue with the Karmelo verdict isnt that he was found guilty and sentenced. Its that in 2026 in maga texas, an all white jury decided the fate of a yng black man. As a REAL American, thats a real issue

@toastycharm @zkwerrell No...pushing, shoving, smacking...whatever...none of that is deadly force. Legally, only lethal force can be met with lethal force. If Metcalf had a weapon, it would be a very different story...but he didn't. He was unarmed.

@toastycharm When the black jury candidates admit they could not "send a brother to prison" and another said he wouldn't convicted him due to his age. At least they admitted they couldn't do the job and be impartial. Credit to them for that. But that is why there are no black jurors.

@Omowale99949437 It is NOT legal for a minor to have a knife on school property. His own defense witnesses testified that he was not being bullied. He was the aggressor. He was in another's teams "locker room" (tent) and had been asked to leave repeatedly. He was not entitled to be in that space.

@realAFLF You are correct. They shouldn't touch you and you should leave if possible to avoid that (especially if you are where you aren't supposed to be). Call the police if needed. There are a lot of things you can do to not be "touched". Murdering a person is not one of them.

@LivinlgndKiller @rissalutions I would normally agree...however, he was 17 and not subject to capital punishment. I actually feel bad for the kid. He bought into the hype being sold (whites hate you, don't listen to them, do what you want, stand your ground...etc.) and paid the price.

@crm1964 @rissalutions Don't forget he also could've first and foremost NOT brought a knife to a school event and provoked someone to do remove him from the area he wasn't supposed to be in any. Quite frankly young Melo here deserves capital punishment if you ask me

Karmelo Anthony is resilient and has to deal with an angry white mob that doesn’t believe he should have the right to defend himself at a school event. You’re a coward who went looking for trouble across state lines and has been coddled. So yes, the comparisons ARE ridiculous.
Kyle Rittenhouse 🇺🇸@rittenhouse2a

Karmelo Anthony comparisons are ridiculous. I defended myself after I was violently attacked by white antifa thugs with criminal records -- and it was clear I'd die if I didn't defend myself. We are not the same.

@skinnyn33 @rissalutions He was not entitled to be there. High School athletes are often in charge of their team spaces. He was not in HIS team space. He invaded the space of others (all races) who did NOT want him there. He should have just left. If he had, both boys would be free to live on.

@crm1964 @rissalutions He didn’t have to leave the area because the entitled white kid told him to not no one authority a kid. He don’t have to listen to a kid for you to write this. It’s just low IQ. He don’t have to listen to no child. What entitlement to say because he was asked several times

Last year DOJ published a report. For every 10,000 blacks, 153 violent crimes are committed by a black person each year against a white person. The same figure for violent crimes committed by whites against a black person: 3.4. A black person is 50-times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white person than for a white person to commit a violent crime against a black person. This is an extraordinary difference in the rates of violence committed between these two groups. We are told that whites are systemically racist. We are told that whites are successful because they oppress others. But the facts tell the opposite story. Blacks are not the ones being victimized. Whites are. Western civilization has been successful not because it was oppressive. It has been successful because whites created, starting thousands of years ago, systems that are impartial and fair. Today these systems are being dismantled. Criminals are being released because of their skin color. Law-abiding citizens are punished because of theirs. All in service of an ideology that is simply false. This puts everyone in danger.

@IsaacHayes3 "Insert eyeroll" The defense witnesses testified that he was not being bullied. He also was not minding his own business. He was in another schools tent and refused to leave after being asked to do so repeatedly. If he had minded his own business, both boys would be at home.

The Karmelo Anthony verdict shows that the justice system has reverted back to the Jim Crow South era. It is no longer about evidence. It is no longer about right or wrong. It is about keeping racial score through the prosecution and imprisonment of Black people. It was no surprise that an all white jury would find a 19 year old kid, who was bullied and harassed by two 6’1” bullies, guilty of murder while he was minding his business. We have seen this story before. A young Black man is put on trial, and somehow the burden shifts from what happened to him, to why he should not have defended himself. The facts become secondary. The optics become everything. The outcome feels predetermined long before the verdict is read. People will tell you not to make it about race. But race has always been part of the story in America. The hard truth is that many Black people no longer believe they will receive the benefit of the doubt when their freedom is on the line. And verdicts like this are exactly why. At some point, we have to stop pretending that everyone is playing by the same set of rules. Because the people watching this case saw something very different than what that jury claimed to see.
