@therealbiztang I’d be surprised if half the population eats anything grown in Australia on a regular basis, we export all our produce and import poor quality stuff from overseas and pay an arm and a leg for it

@James_Stacey_ @abcadelaide On holidays in a seaside town on the EP & diesel has gone up 55c a litre since last Thursday, easy for people to justify a couple jerrycans if the price keeps rising at this speed

I think Australia’s fuel stockpile is currently in the full tanks of all the retirees that have been filling up all day in our local town of Strathalbyn @abcadelaide they won’t drive anywhere and won’t buy anymore fuel for a month!

@TrentAn94382106 @dyerjonathan This is a very good point to be made, we are well & truly within the drought area. We had very good crops because even though we only had 300mm of our 500mm avg it all fell between June and October

@dyerjonathan Average rain is a terrible measure of season. We ended up close to average but with nearly half coming after October. No grass, no hay and rubbish crops, but according to BOM an average year 🤷‍♂️

Farmers out there what WUE do you work on for crops? I’m thinking mines too but I could be wrong.

#agX Given the exorbitant pricing on many ag parts, who can we use in Aus to give us affordable parts and good service? Who can we use and support? I’ve been told Collier and Miller in nsw for header parts and engineering? Others please.
Mark Modra@farmersgrowit

Did a maintance job on the header and had these left over. Was going to throw them out till I got the bill at $145 for the 2 nuts and bolt!😬. Promptly sent them back! …..Note pricing is set by CNH , not local store. #bendover

@agbyte_leet @HoolyMcg Thanks, so far they’ve been fairly trouble free. Fingers crossed for another rain. We’ve got hay on the ground so we’ve done our part to try and encourage it

Plenty of new lentil growers across AUS, some excellent looking crops in WA. I've been thru Central Yorke Pen yesterday, amazing looking bulk considering the condensed growing season. These photos near Balaklava, SA. 145mm GSR with 27mm since Sep 1st. Messy crop, poor ARG control, but setting pods with nice seeds. I'm wondering how many unprofitable lentil paddocks there will be in SA and Vic, hopefully not many.

@HoolyMcg @agbyte_leet Have absolutely no idea what to expect from our’s. They’d definitely benefit from another rain. For a short growing season they’ve done well but got along way to go yet

@CorbinSchuster @James_Stacey_ I can’t speak for other’s in the Meningie area, we’re at about 220mm ytd. 215mm gsr. No plans for any extra hay at this stage as barley flowered 4 weeks ago. So we missed that boat.

@James_Stacey_ Yikes. Given the current extraction rates, we'll be out of moisture by 3rd week of October... I heard today that huge swathes of crop around Meningie are due to be cut for hay, has been horrible down that region too, unsure if true?

It’s game on. Keep your mowers pinned in South Australia. If you want to get a return from bulky crops or set yourself up for livestock retention and trading opportunities. The argument is a dry one now.

@dyerjonathan @HARDI_Australia @SprayShopAus Yes agreed but batcher can organise the chemical in the yard whilst filling and carting making the whole process close to 50% quicker meaning it doesn’t change our time spent on the task. Far less chemical drum movement as the truck either holds the chemical or uses home base.

Really happy with the efficiency performance of filling our SP via 3” water fill, batch tank and sucking in traces and UAN via venturi. 8 minute fills means the hours on this girl are utilised well.

Hmmm canola I fear is looking to good, I know might be an unpopular and ungrateful opinion but big bulk now seems hard for us to convert to yield. Went much later with N this year but they still pumped it on in last 2 to weeks or so. Let's hope they yeild as good as they look. We are very thankful for what we have but let's hope money spent isn't money burnt if spring cuts off..... conversion starter 😂
