Polanski is one of the best political entrepreneurs in this country imo. And I think there’s a case that the Green surge is good for politics - that part of the electorate needed political representation. A Green govt would be as disastrous as a Reform govt.
Darren Johnson@DarrenJohnson66

Abolish Ofsted. Abolish Prevent. Abolish landlords. Abolish Britain's membership of Nato. Abolish restrictions on puberty blockers. [Abolish Israel - to be decided in the Autumn] There's a hell of a lot of stuff the Green Party wants to abolish these days.

Did any of those madly rich people in the UAE consider not building artificial islands, but building a new waterway to avoid the Strait of Hormuz so that they’d never have to rely on Iran?

Who do we hate now Brewdog is gone? Tony’s Chocoloney seems like a good target but maybe we should aim bigger. Huel? Waitrose?

@v_j_freeman Keir’s big thing was the end of ‘sticking plaster politics’ but his majority doesn’t have the stones for the actual surgery the country desperately needs to get out of this spiral

Given Labour inherited this debt because we were hit with two once in a century shocks on the bounce & they’ve reneged on their election promises to make growth their “no.1 priority” & to only increase public spending off the back of this growth I find all this tough to stomach
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

Exclusive Poorer households will be offered “targeted” support to protect them from large rises in their energy bills under plans being drawn up in response to the economic crisis triggered by war in the Middle East. Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, told The Times the Treasury was drawing up “different options” to help those who were most vulnerable to soaring gas and electricity costs when the current price cap comes to an end in June She raised concerns that a universal bailout for every household — similar to that announced by Liz Truss after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine — would be unaffordable given Britain’s high levels of debt. The interventions cost more than £40 billion Next week the chancellor will give a clear indication of her approach by announcing a package of support for households that rely on heating oil but cannot afford the soaring cost, which has risen by 80 per cent in a week “I am concerned given how high our debt is, the debt that we inherited, and so I want to look at what the different options available would be.” She added: “It is important even when there is an economic shock - or perhaps particularly when there’s an economic shock - that you continue to be disciplined about your use of public money.” thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@v_j_freeman They’ve got this huge majority but it’s fundamentally built on sand, announcing lots of unpopular but ultimately necessary (in their eyes) policies, then backing down after some poor sod has had to go out and publicly defend it

@v_j_freeman Unlike some of his other detractors, I’m willing to entertain that Polanski may have had a shift in his views over time, since being a Lib Dem in 2010(?) etc. My issue is that I don’t believe for a second he would extend this courtesy to anyone else.

@CharlotteCGill It’s such a delicate balance, not enough medication and you feel like rubbish, your thyroid working overtime for no results, then you put too much in and your thyroid gets lazy again!

this may be an unpopular opinion but having just watched Mickey 17, i was reminded so much of the film Downsizing (intriguing premises that fall apart halfway through bc of random side plots that dilute their core concepts)
