“We gave up our yesterdays for your tomorrows.”
98-year-old World War II veteran David Yoho delivered an emotional message at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. as Americans gathered to honor the more than 400,000 U.S. service members who died during the war.
Standing before the crowd in the rain, Yoho urged younger generations to remember the sacrifices made by veterans and to keep telling their stories long after they’re gone.
“Tell them it was a 16-year-old boy in the hearts and mind and body of a 98-year-old veteran of World War II.”

We owe them more than remembrance. We owe them gratitude that lives in how we honor their legacy-by standing for what is right, by cherishing the freedoms they secured, and by never allowing their sacrifice to fade into history.
May we never forget the men who stormed those beaches-and never came home.
Their courage echoes still. 🙏🇺🇸🙏

Harold "Hal" Moore always stood out to me as the kind of leader you don't just read about-you remember. Born in 1922, he became one of the U.S. Army's most respected figures, especially during the Vietnam War. What really sticks with me is his role in the 1965 Battle of la Drang, where he led the Ist Battalion, 7th Cavalry. That fight wasn't just another battle—it was the first real test between U.S. forces and North Vietnamese troops, and the kind of moment where leadership either holds or falls apart.
Moore held.
What I find especially impressive is that he wasn't just reacting to war—he helped change how it was fought. He was part of shaping the Air Cavalry idea, using helicopters to move troops fast and hit hard. That kind of thinking didn't just help then-it set the tone for how modern
combat works today.
Over the years, he rose to lieutenant general and eventually commanded the 7th Infantry Division, but titles aside, what stands out to me is how much he cared about the soldiers under him. That comes through clearly in the book We Were Soldiers Once... and Young, which he co-wrote with Joseph Galloway. If you've ever seen the movie version with Mel Gibson, you get a glimpse
-but the real story hits deeper.
Moore passed away in 2017 at 94, and to me, he represents a kind of steady, no-nonsense leadership that feels rare today-focused, disciplined, and always putting his people first. 🙏🇺🇸🙏

#Mariners Ken Griffey Jr. robbed Albert Belle of this home run 30 years ago today, on May 5, 1996.
Junior finished that season with 49 home runs, Belle with 48.
