Last night Mike attended his 1st @MapleLeafs game with his pal Craig. He went bananas when Marner scored in OT. He couldn’t have been happier heading back to Ptbo …It was the last thing on his bucket list. Mike said goodbye to the world this morning in his sleep a happy man.

80 years ago today, the parents of the "Sullivan brothers", five men from Waterloo, Iowa, who had served together on the USS Juneau, learned their sons had been listed as "missing in action". @WWIIMemorial

During WWII, Charlies Starkes served as a torpedo man on the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Tracker, a ship that was involved in D-Day on June 6, 1944, a day the Greenspond, Bonavista Bay native had remembered vividly.

#OTD in 1970, the Oregon Highway Division consulted with the U.S. Navy and decided the best way to dispose of a whale carcass was to blow it up with a 1/2 ton of dynamite. The explosion caused blubber to rain down on spectators for over a 1/4 of a mile. The TV segment is classic.

Let’s remember Bill Saunders.
Bill was 101, a WWll veteran, and a longtime member of the Legion.
He passed away last week.
On Remembrance Day, let’s think of all the veterans who fought for the freedoms we all have today.
Lest we forget. @StJohnsTelegram

Lest we forget. 🌺
