@ANGC_burner Legit question for the thread (seriously, it’s my job!) — what would make you love it more? Or what do you wish other people saw in it that make you feel this way?

Rights. The answer is media rights. “It’s truly mind boggling how they sidestepped the season’s blockbuster double-feature movie. In the end, the whole thing collapses under its own lack of ambition.”

@AidanBee2649 Few more reccos: - Sheila’s Donuts in N. Augusta left great - Hawaiian BBQ unique / good - Assume you play, embrace the Carolina sand hill renaissance: The Patch, Old Barnwell, Tree Farm. 21 Club, Forest Hills, etc. Good luck. We did a lot of growing up here. Fond memories.

@AidanBee2649 Just spent last 7 years there. My advice: - live: find home / ‘hood you love; be happy where your head lays (e.g. Hammond’s Ferry in North Augusta) - best bar: Arsenal Tap Room - best food: Frog Hollow, Abel Brown - best coffee: Trellis - weekend: explore within ~3hr radius

@incolnlay At the end of the day, I think the Masters is big enough for all of us, and fans of all types. I want others to love it as much as I do. Anything else, just feels like I’m an old man yelling “Get off my lawn!”. Food for thought.

@incolnlay These new fans are first introduced to the Masters via a side doors, but over time they discover the main attraction and become fans for life. The product hasn’t changed, just the way people discover it.

“Overexposure” is the word I’m left with after the Masters. Demand for all things Masters is as high as ever, but they’re risking oversupply. The thing that always made the Masters great is the perfectly curated blend of elusive and accessible, layered on nailing the details. It’s not naked, it’s perfectly covered, leaving something to the imagination. A little mystery. The feeling that you won’t truly ever know unless you’re on the grounds. But now, they’ve given the people what they want - more. More shots, more angles, more commentary, Pimento Cheese shipped right to your house. But, it could be argued that all this comes at a cost, and once a line is crossed, it can’t be undone. I think we all get the sense they were uncomfortably close to that line this year. From celebrities at the Par 3 to an App that had glitches to the production making bogey on the 72nd hole and the death of a commercial-free second nine. I feel that they’re on the precipice of losing luster, and the only way to get it back will be to return to the true fundamentals, which will include deleting many of these additions we’ve had in recent years. I’d love to hear some discussion on this - am I wrong? Am I the only one feeling this way?

@incolnlay It’s hard to control the message in the age of social media, so naturally, these entrances cross pollinate. But if you’re a fan who just attended the Tournament or watched the CBS broadcast over the weekend, I don’t think your experience / relationship was negatively impacted.

@MyGolfSpy @TheMasters There’s not really a way to control that. Brands get access to the tournament and give that access to their influencers. That’s different from other tournaments that give the access directly.

Should @TheMasters be another “influencer event”? I’ve seen a lot of conversation about who’s been invited, why and for what. We want to hear from you.

@AugustaGolfGirl But there’s only one truth. And I can promise you, influencers are not gaining access to the Tournament at the expense of lottery ticket applicants. Implying as much is simply copium.

Tough to watch so many “golf” fans self-immolate this week. There are so many bad takes on the Masters this year, I don’t even know where to begin: - The Par 3 Contest is serious business! - The players are underpaid! - Influencers get widespread preferential access! Sigh.

@calidaddude @LJLewis_11 What are you implying here @calidaddude? That there are hundreds of tickets just being handed out to influencers willy nilly? And if it was true (it’s not), with a name like “Silicon Valley Guy” I assume you’d understand how capitalism works and the value exchanged.

I hate all the dumb influencers that know nothing about golf that go to the masters.

@landforce @orenmeetsworld You two will probably appreciate this - I was working on a whole content piece on Marketing The Masters. Had Claude do an Youtube Analysis. I pulled the relevant bits out into a new doc. Maybe i should take your course and make a video. docs.google.com/document/d/1iA…

Checked into a hotel solo last night, the front desk woman: 1. Gave me two keys without asking how many I’d need 2. Told me I’d be on the second floor, after writing my room number in the card & closing it 3. Never said my room number verbally out loud It may seem silly to some, but little things like this that help me feel safer when traveling by myself and I appreciate the heck out of.

Not sure if I’m going to the Masters but I will be at Drive, Chip & Putt. Who else will be there? Never been to a DCP, any advice? (Been to many Masters, never to a DCP (or ANWA for that matter)). Also, I’m not buying anyone a gnome.

Alright folks, trying something new this year. I created a league on the Masters Fantasy platform. Anyone here welcome to join. Link below. I'll send the winner a PSA 10 Tiger Woods UD rookie card. Good luck! masters.com/en_US/fantasy/…
