24-yr-old Nigerian student jailed for life for b+ating a 56-yr-old lady to d£ath while under the influence of c@nnabis in the UK A UK court has sentenced 24-year-old Chukwuemeka Ahanonu to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and six months for the m¥rder of Nila Patel in Leicester. The att@ck happened on June 24, 2025, after Ahanonu’s car overturned near Leicester Royal Infirmary. Patel, a 56-year-old mother of two, had just gotten off a bus and was walking home when she was v+olently a§§aulted. She d+ed two days later from severe brain inj¥ries. Ahanonu, who denied m¥rder but admitted mansla¥ghter on grounds of diminished responsibility, was found guilty by a jury after a month-long trial. Sentencing him, Judge Timothy Spencer KC described the k+lling as “shocking, br¥tal and merciless,” ruling that the victim was deliberately targeted for her vulnerability. The court also heard evidence suggesting racial hostility played a role. In emotional statements, Patel’s children described their grief, calling her the “heart of the family” and saying her loss has shattered their lives.
