There must be crazy margins in commercial roofing I got 2 quotes: $73k and $80k to replace this roof in NJ 5,000 sq ft What do you think the materials cost? How hard would it be for me to find the subs who actually do the work?

Ford is responsible for nearly 50% of a vehicle recalls year-to-date: For a total of 9,420,920 affected. Remember back in the day when Ford’s slogan was “Quality is Job 1?” My, how far we’ve come. (Data/graph source: BizzyCar / NHTSA)

@TKopelman 4. Term or Permanent life insurance (situational): protect your family and kids if you are done. If Term, ensure it is convertible if you ever need that for estate tax planning purposes. Fixed that for you!

Insurances you need to consider as a high income 30-50 year old: 1. Car insurance: cover large outlays of cash not low deductibles (maxed out liability, underinsured/uninsured motorist, etc) 2. Disability insurance: protect your future earnings 3. Health insurance: make sure a large accident, cancer, etc. doesn't cost 100s of thousands of dollars 4. Term life insurance (notice I said term): protect your family and kids if you are done. Can ensure it is convertible if you ever need that for estate tax planning purposes. 5. Homeowners insurance: maxed out liability and enough dwelling to rebuild 6. Umbrella insurance: protect against liability claims in excess of home and auto. Could easily lose all your assets without it

There is a simple reason why a big equity sell-off will be unavoidable no matter what companies within the indices you own: investors are not only a single keystroke away selling everything, they cannot even cherry pick if they want to. The best values in the S&P will necessarily be sold when the only option is to sell the passively acquired index funds. And once redemptions start, they selling will begin because there are NO cash buffers. Have a nice day.

@TKopelman They are buying the wrong asset class; for a business owner it should be industrial NNN and/or self storage and contractor garages vs tenants and toilets.

Many of the business owners I work with have bought rental real estate I would say at least half end up regretting it Real estate can become a huge distraction and take up a decent amount of your time while being less profitable than the business It also can take away a lot of your liquidity If you are buying real estate, make sure you know what you're getting into Real estate is great asset class for the right people And horrible for the wrong ones

@TKopelman A healthy relationship with money is liberating, and much of this is shaped in childhood, and out of our control. Spend time learning about and understanding your money story, your patterns, and wounds, and you unlock another superpower. This can shift your financial trajectory!

@RealRickRule Test: I buy structural steel (long products.) I use the steel to build buildings for clients. When tariffs increase the cost of my raw materials do I a) absorb the cost because I want to reduce my margins, or b) pass along the higher cost of materials with tariff to the customer?

🚨 🇺🇸 MIND-BLOWING FEDERAL BUDGET BREAKDOWN: $6.16 TRILLION SPENDING VS $4.47 TRILLION REVENUE The government's fiscal 2023 numbers reveal massive deficit spending that would make any sane business owner cringe. Social Security dominates spending while individual income taxes carry the revenue load. The deficit gap is staggering — we're spending $1.69 trillion more than we bring in annually. Interest payments on existing debt alone consume hundreds of billions that could fund actual programs. Individual income taxes and payroll taxes shoulder most of the burden while corporate taxes contribute relatively little. Meanwhile, Social Security, defense, and Medicare devour the largest spending chunks. Source: Office of Management and Budget, @therabbithole
