Point is, ai is great at generating novel instances of commodified content (photos of old cars), it’s passable patching together commodified content (style swaps, setting swaps) but you can’t just magic things that we don’t already know (future tech, forgotten history).

This is a great example of the weak point ai realism. There are lots of photos of old cars and people in suits in the training data, so it pretty much nails those. But there are likely no videos of actual heads getting blown off, so you get exploding watermelon/cgi.

@binji_x Is anyone actually doing this in a serious way? I’ve seen lots of people talk about owning your data, but haven’t seen anyone building anything that actually accomplishes it.

as you get more familiar with your go-to LLM, and as the AI learns more about you, it can begin to upcharge you more $$$ to continue being useful and you’re going to be locked in with no choice to take all of *checks notes* YOUR data with you to other LLMs. decentralized, encrypted, USER OWNED data fixes this. ethereum.

my hypothesis is that each of the AI apps is going to try and be something different to you as a way to segment themselves in the market: Google Gemini will try to be your personal assistant 💁‍♂️ OpenAI ChatGPT will try to be your best friend (and/or significant other) 🤝😘 xAI will try to be your source of truth (and/or possibly your mistress) ⚖️🌶️ Claude will try to be your coworker 💼 things are going to get more weird than you can possibly imagine

@binji_x The only viable alternative I’ve seen is “enter your address”. There needs to be some way to indicate to the app where it should route the request to. Other approaches make assumptions about wallet format (mobile app vs web app vs extension)

i am so upset at how shitty wallet UX is why do i need to pick a name brand wallet, and why can i not just connect a wallet to a site there's been numerous instances of late where the wallet i use is not available as an option and i think its absolutely ridiculous we don't have a unified "connect wallet" system yet this is such a fixable moment of churn. rn we are throwing users billboards of wallet names instead of just letting them fkn connect ffs uodhe3ouewohnew3odcx'p (im actually upset, this is ridiculous)

@chrlyz777 The lack of a serious open source wallet renders this entire industry kind of a joke. Holding out hope we’ll get it together once the existing players become obviously extractive.

@0xDesigner Only nit with the parallel is NFTs have no buried treasure. You can’t dig through a rack and find something of value that has gone unrecognized. NFTs are too traceable and easily valued for that. The bot will find the mispricing long before the regular collector will.

@9354doteth @punk6529 They actually used to have more of this, but it didn’t help. No one reads it and it’s a turn off for people onboarding to crypto. No company wants to introduce that kind of friction at such a delicate moment.

The @SECgov is wrong on the law and wrong on the policy with respect to the Bitcoin ETF decision. If the SEC is going to let crypto burrow even deeper into our financial system, then it's more urgent than ever that crypto follow basic anti-money laundering rules.

i wish we had a lot of great new use cases to focus on, captivating our imaginations while DeFi summer and NFT mania were degen, so much new stuff emerged a lot of hopes now on ETFs + halvening important, but boring still early though and new uses can come out of nowhere

@0xDesigner Generic in that if it does everything then it’s not going to do any one thing the best. There are different qualities I’m looking for in different contexts and no reason to think the team that’s the best at making one thing would also be the best at making all the other things

why are “everything apps” inevitable for consumer crypto? because that’s the whole point of composability—you can construct entire end-to-end experiences using protocols like lego blocks. it’s one of the main draws of building anything onchain.
0xDesigner@0xDesigner

you can still build a “super app” or “everything app” and be focused, specialized and differentiated. it’s the point of view you offer on a large set of features, not the features themselves.
