hi @vaxryy, would it be possible to get a unfocused renderer exclusion baked into hyprland as it seems like wayland doesn't want to listen to our attempts of telling it not to throttle cider on song transition making it get stuck sometimes. we've basically just been telling people to add this window rule, doesn't seem to be an issue on other DE/WM's like KDE and GNOME oddly enough probably not to your own fault though Chromium likely just doesn't care. lmk if we can do anything from our end though like a dbus thing I might be missing, im not all that versed in linuxry lol hl.window_rule({ match = { initial_class = "cider", }, render_unfocused = true, })

The fear mongering is real, you can literally opt out in the Developer Settings. Stop doing this shit.

@UseCider Tried out Apple Music couple months ago and when I listened to the New Music Mix playlist. Adding songs from there to my own playlists would always stop the playback and forget which song i was at. Does this happen on Cider?

We've made a variety of improvements to the app over the last couple days improving library performance even more, enjoy instant switch and load times. No more serialization slowdowns, scrolling jitter, and now with contextual sorting icons.

So @temidaradev I tried your music player and it's alright, but I have some issues: - Tidal integration (their API is a bit ass but I'm sure you can manage) - playlists, searching, playback - UI optimization - this is the laggiest desktop app UI-wise I've ever used even including electron. Scrolling is legit 20fps. - Listenbrainz fixes - "listening now" is sent but the listen is rarely registered afterwards (like 25% of the time?) - likely HTTP errors, LB's API is notoriously finnicky - need to check for 429 and timeouts. Because I like seeing open source grow and because dara is a nice person unlike a certain other turkish kid, I'll put my money where my words are: I'll donate 100$ each for the first two, listenbrainz is probably easier so 50$. Posting publicly so y'all can rip my nuts off if I don't pay afterwards. (also as a PS. the settings menu is quite hard to navigate, more clear sections, less spacing between options, and clear distinction where one ends and another begins would really help)

HLS has been replaced with a new in house alternative meaning you can now have animated artwork in more places without a hitch! Cider will also do a much better job at selecting the correct resolution for your displays to keep artwork looking crisp.

@cryptofyre @UseCider Yes, I know, but there are only options for Artists, Title, and Album. The "Album Artist" data is separate and unavailable, apart from the option to use the album artist as the sole artist for all songs, which doesn't solve what I mentioned in the other comment

@UseCider Is it possible to add the "Album Artist" regex rule? Some artists have .wav or .MP3 in their name and Last.fm blocks them, regex fix that

Happy Fathers Day! We've made a revision to the Windows client with a few fixes and improvements, this will be installed automatically on systems using the MSIX based installation. Those using the standard EXE installer will need to install this themselves via the same installer they downloaded. (Version ID is 4.0.3)

a while ago i can’t remember how it got on to the topic but we were discussing welfare payments that people receive and i was discussing why i was unable to work (which i shouldn’t have to) and cryptofyre (the ceo) essentially invalidating my disability which is why i am on it. then his friends in the chat dog piled me about it. cider itself isn’t actually revolutionary technology, it’s just an electron app. everyone complains about electron but the second they use it it’s somehow fine. it also plucks out most of the features that makes apple music great, as well as being bug infested.

@cryptofyre @Techjunkie_Aman These are fair points and i get them. But theres still the wording on the learn-more page where you are showing off these GitHub Stars and naming '10+ Open Source integrations', which both implies that itself must be Open Source.

We did most of the work back when Cider was open source, and it led to a lot of financial and time depravities that we sunk a lot of our lives to and really turned us in a sour direction. We don't advertise ourselves as open source, haven't for a while. Cider 2.x+ onwards have a completely different codebase and shares zero similarities to the open source version which we intentionally archived to allow people to build on as a stepping stone of their own. Community built means we answer to a lot of feedback and build things directly off that feedback, it doesn't explicitly need to be an open source project and even on that front we have Plugin and Theme SDK's for that reason to allow people to build for themselves. We're not evil, we don't even use the stars from that repository as it's archived so what good would that do us? I can't control that number without sacrificing that aforementioned stepping stool for others. So please don't lie and say we're doing something we're not. Thank you.

@Techjunkie_Aman > Community built > Archived Github Repo > Advertises with Github stars of said repo > Want Money for that Nope, they advertise themself as open source, but there is no current source available and they are greedy enough to ask for money of that closed source App
