In Root, the Vagabond is often a pain in the ass for the other players.
They sneak around the map doing their little quests, maybe sniping a few birds or cats. Don't seem to be a threat, just based on looking on the board.
But then they rack up points and win out of nowhere.
This is because everyone ignores them.
If you play Root as one of the conventional wargame-type factions, you need to see the Vagabond as a rival on the same level of every other faction.
That means you have to spend actions attacking them. Hit them whenever you get the chance.
You can't kill the little racoon but you can damage his items enough that he has to sit out in the forest for a while to recover.
If you ignore the Vagabond, he will win. So smack him down. Everyone at the table needs to know this.
