@hantengri Because a bunch of people got insanely rich from 1 or 2 of them and also because they don't really care about making a good game.

@macbrennan_cc Socializing what? Why would anyone but Drift venue users be affected?
English

Two principles I’m working by as we assess the Drift exploit:
1) Drift lenders on P0 chose Drift specifically, we will ensure these lenders are proportionally socialized (as opposed to other venues like Kamino or Project 0 native market)
2) Keeping P0 paused while we clear these socializations ensures all users of P0 are treated fairly.
This a) minimizes socialization per user, and b) also doesn’t potentially punish users who are away from their computer and can’t withdraw.
We’ll keep everyone continuously updated.
Project 0@project0
We have paused P0 temporarily to disable borrows against Drift banks. We will handle Drift deposits now. This ensures no new borrows can be made against Drift positions.

@based16z @LuckyXBT__ Why would he post a twitter expose for a company that is publicly traded and regulated in the US?
English

@newyork_dc @bog_beef Yeah I hear these sorts of stories all the time, but the language looks like you could pick it up in a few days at most.
English

@bog_beef I know of lots of cobol developers desperate for a job, so not sure what you’re talking about. Also cobol is not difficult to pickup for a OOP engineer, the COBOL guys can’t pick up OOP though.

I worked at a large business that still used IBM mainframe for database stuff.
One day, I overheard the manager said she just attended a remote job interview, where the candidate, a male in his 60s, was eating the whole time and shirtless.
I asked, “what the hell y’all went through it?”
She explained the guy was a COBOL programmer and they are so few that they HAD to, and he knew it. It’s a flex to say “I don’t need this job, you need me.”

@MikeIppolito_ Yeah the article was completely ridiculous doom porn. Baby's first AI scare for people who just pivoted to stocks and are hanging on Citrini's every word.
English

@8teAPi My question is: with AI and automation and robotics, what jobs do these people realistically expect to occupy? Falling birth rates have frontrun this somewhat but it seems like this will happen everywhere soon enough.

Real State of China 🇨🇳
> it’s really bad
> friend who has invested in China for over 40 years visited a few months ago
> 3rd tier city, not the Shenzhen, Beijing visits that newbies do
> 60-70% of homeowners more than 15% underwater on purchase price
> wage growth stagnant since Covid
> many college graduates working food delivery at US$10-15 per day
> layoffs
> many workers unpaid for months as governments and companies lack cash to pay
> bright spots in tech and robotics yes
> but average man on the street is doing badly
> shopping malls empty and many stores closed
> people milling around aimlessly with little to do
> depression level economy
> general feeling of the world leaving them behind and of the central government not caring
this is the state of the 1 billion people you don’t see in the big cities

@KyleKashuv And when you beat Goliath there is no crowd to cheer for you, just an endless arena of other Davids fighting their own Goliath.

Phone addiction is the everyday person’s version of David vs Goliath.
For the past dozen years, 20,000 caltech machine learning PhDs have spent every hour of every day — to get you to spend one additional marginal hour on their platform.
Hundreds of billions of dollars of technocapital are pitted against you.

@0xkyle__ This happened to video games over a decade ago. Suddenly all the information was on the internet and all the sweaty min-maxxers ruined every single game.
English

i can't stop thinking about that one post that said how the NBA turned basketball into something that is mechanically precise and optimal instead of the old, fun but messy game
and i now see this trend everywhere - everything has been so optimized and efficient that it's so hard to find inefficiencies

With 3 engineers, Kaizen went from 10K LOC committed per week in September, to 100k LOC in December, to 1M LOC this past week all with a background agent.
No one on our team has opened an IDE in months.
