May the 4th be with you, dRYFTers! ⚔️🌀 The greatest missions are never carried by one force alone. They’re carried by conviction, alignment, and a crew willing to move through the chaos together. That’s what the dRYFTers bring to the RYFT. Thank you for showing up, supporting, sharing, building, and believing in what this is becoming each day. The force is strong with this community 🤝🌀 ⭐️ ✨ 💫 The stars ahead hold far more than what’s behind us...

The South African government published draft regulations that would criminalize self-custody of Bitcoin. Border agents could demand your private keys. Treasury could force you to sell your Bitcoin back to rand. All holdings must be declared within 30 days. This happened by ministerial decree without a parliamentary vote. Murray Rothbard described the state as nothing more than a gang of thieves writ large, legitimized through the mythology of democratic consent. South Africa's National Treasury demonstrates this perfectly. They are using a 93-year-old law from 1933 to regulate technology that didn't exist until 2009, overriding court rulings that said crypto assets fall outside exchange controls. The rand has lost 90% of its value in thirty years, and now they want to trap you inside their sinking currency. They are doing this because of what economists call the Impossible Trinity. Any government can only maintain two of three things: stable exchange rates, free capital movement, or independent monetary policy. South Africa chose capital controls plus monetary independence, sacrificing your freedom to move money. Bitcoin breaks that equation. When you can custody your own wealth outside their system, their capital controls become meaningless. Eleven million South Africans remain unbanked. For them, self-custodied Bitcoin is their bank. The same government claiming to care about financial inclusion just moved to criminalize the only viable savings technology these people can access. Bastiat would recognize the paradox: what is seen is "investor protection," what is unseen is the destruction of the only escape route from monetary theft. The comment window closes May 16th. They are betting you won't notice until it's too late.

@talkcentss I would say you made a fair point too. Let's see how it goes, I am all for SA progress with adoption & easier accessibility, so let's hope for the best. I use exchanges mostly only as portals so I guess this does make it easier.

That’s fair, bro. Give it time if you must. The thing with binance is they continue to build, as advancements usually happen quicker than regulations can keep up. They then eventually converge at a point. I’d say anyone needs a mix. Bitcoin self custody, funds on exchange to trade, earn or spend. That’s how I do it. I don’t keep my life savings on exchanges. It would be my day to day money that I would have otherwised spent form my checking account. So keeping what you would spend normally and utilizing the card to earn rewards isn’t a risk factor to me. They could just seize my bank account if they wanted too.

I would love to say this is a win but with the SA government.... I will wait & see how it plays out first before I gallop around SA with my Binance card. Where there is a will there is a way- SA corruption slogan.

To build truly Positive Sum and PvE systems, you have to begin from self-sovereignty. Participation cannot be coerced. Collaboration cannot be extracted. Trust cannot be mandated from the top down. It has to emerge from voluntary action, repeated commitment, and the individual’s choice to honor the pact they entered. This is where Cypherpunk principles fit naturally. A well-designed network should preserve agency, minimize coercion, and make responsibility legible. The system should not command participants into compliance. It should create transparent rules where sovereign actors can choose to participate, prove reliability, and earn deeper inclusion over time. In this kind of system, inclusion is a privilege, not an obligation. In any healthy voluntary network, participants should never be punished for declining uncommitted flow. But once an Agent voluntarily accepts a commitment, the responsibility of that action is paramount. The network does not enforce obedience. It recognizes integrity. It rewards truthful capacity, honored commitments, collaborative behavior, and reliability. That is the foundation of Positive Sum design: independent actors choosing cooperation because the mechanism makes cooperation more valuable than extraction. And that is the foundation of PvE systems: the enemy is not the other participant. The enemy is failed coordination, broken trust, false capacity, and unreliable execution. When sovereignty and accountability are designed together, collaboration becomes something stronger than compliance. 🤝🌀

Every token has an OTC Threshold. Cross it, and your trade starts leaking value. Slippage, Price impact, You become the signal. It’s not a matter of "If" you OTC… it’s "when". 🤝🌀

I've left OpenAI and the Codex team to build Blackstar: A new hardware company building the future of human-computer interaction. We believe that software is solved. Building apps is now easy, but the next meaningful improvement in human-AI communication requires changing the OS & hardware. That's why we're building a new device entirely. I'm also excited to announce our $12m seed round led by @AbstractVC, with participation from @naval, @SVAngel, @chapterone, and Timeless, among other amazing angels who've supported us from the old Alex days.
