IF you plan to use wallet tracking as a major ALPHA INDICATOR in your trading. Then read this ⬇️
First off, when picking wallets to track - stop looking at only Win-rates and PNLs. Go into the charts and see how they executed the trade. Where they bought and sold their last 3 wins/losses. How they buy and how they TP. Look at their avg holding time, very important. Then categorize the wallet ( EG Scalper, conviction buyer, AlwaysTOOearly (ATE) etc ) . Why do you do this? You do it so when you see them on the tracker, you know the context of their buy based on previous behaviour. AlwaysTOOearly(ATE) catches all the runners in the market but capitulates before they run or is a trencher that prefers a quick 1-3x over a 40x win- EG Cupsey. You know which wallets align with your personal trading style because of this and you prioritise their pings.
After categorizing the wallet, you need to watch so you will see what they do in real time. Think of it this way, the reason you will place a bet that Stephen Curry will take at least 12 threes from outside the 3pt line is because you saw him do it in the last four games. No one told you, you saw it yourself. This means there's a high likelihood he will behave the same way in the fifth game. Hence, you place the bet. Its the same thing here, from watching . . you begin to understand why and why not.
Know that every wallet you add to your tracker has an actual human being behind it and a style that is somewhat consistent. From watching on a separate tab, on the charts and looking at CT and the markets in general, you begin to understand the process of that wallet owner. Are they spontaneous ? Are they conviction buyers? Do they wait for a play to be solidified above 500k or 1m, then ape with size ? Do they roundtrip ? Do they buy dead charts? Do they buy, then bullpost? Do they buy , then wait for the market? Are they the market ? Watching it all in Unison begins to open your eyes to the inner workings of the game. The synchronisation, the KOLs that track other Kols and their buys come 2-5 seconds apart. You will see it all and it will all begin to make sense. Trust your brain to draw the patterns, it will do it- dont worry. Just give it time.
Like I said, if you plan to use this as your edge. You cant do it passively, you need to watch consciously. Also, you need to sleuth to find wallets. Its not easy but its the game. I personally do not believe in automatically updating wallets that I track. Id rather dedicate two days to manually sleuth to remove and add new ones. Auto updates will likely not take alot of factors I mentioned above into consideration, it will just add profitable wallets that prolly buy and sell in two seconds and that will hurt you.
TL:DR : Wallet tracking is a stressful alpha indicator but one of the most profitable ones. Do the work, then observe carefully. Try not to use auto-updates or follow blindly. It is important to watch first so you understand wallet styles.
Okay, thats it. You are welcome
