Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here is mine after all the events of today. @BeattieDoug Doug Beattie stepped up when I needed a political voice for my son regarding his education, no questions asked he got on with advocating for my son and providing whatever political assistancs he could. A kind, decent, honourable man. There is a lot of commentary by many about Doug today. Doug Beattie will always have my support. Many say, "What did he do for the Union and strengthen the Union?" Doug Beattie had nothing to do with the Windsor Framework or the Sea Border, and what are other Unionist politicians doing about it? Doug served with great bravery and distinction for his country like many others that also should be not be forgotten. As a Southern Unionist, it deeply saddens me to see how Doug Beattie is being treated by all quarters. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but Doug Beattie should not be treated as some kind of solitary scapegoat that is to be blamed for all the ills of today. Remember this, "The true worth of a politician is found in the quiet service they give to families, not just the loud debates of the day; a man’s character is built on the help he provides, not the blame others cast upon him." I am proud to call Doug a friend and he is most welcome down Kilkenny way anytime. A Righteous Man is Nobody's Fool. Stay going Doug, keep er lit. 👍

A stain on artistic life. Smál ar bheatha na n-ealaíon.
Handre@Handre

George Bernard Shaw stood in Stalin's USSR in 1931, watching millions starve to death, and declared there was no famine at all. The Nobel Prize-winning playwright didn't just stay silent about the horror unfolding around him. He actively promoted the lie that would help Stalin cover up one of history's greatest atrocities. Shaw toured Ukraine during the height of the Holodomor, when Soviet grain requisitions had stripped peasants of every scrap of food. Conservative estimates put the death toll at 3.5 million Ukrainians. Shaw saw the empty villages, the skeletal survivors, the mass graves. Then he signed a public letter praising Stalin's "remarkable progress" and told Western journalists that reports of famine were capitalist propaganda. Why would an intelligent man become Stalin's useful idiot? Shaw believed in central planning with religious fervor. He thought brilliant intellectuals like himself could design society better than millions of individuals making their own choices. When confronted with central planning's inevitable result (mass death), he chose to lie rather than admit his ideology killed people. Shaw preferred beautiful theory to ugly facts. Shaw deliberately used his celebrity status to give Stalin cover while Ukrainian children died of starvation. He returned to Britain and spent years defending Soviet policies, even as refugee testimonies and photographic evidence exposed the genocide. The man who wrote about moral awakening in "Pygmalion" had abandoned his own moral compass entirely. Free market economists warned that socialist calculation was impossible, that without prices and property rights, economies would collapse into chaos and death. Shaw dismissed these warnings as bourgeois nonsense while standing ankle-deep in their vindication.

This is the reason political Unionism has suffered over the decades. Unionism is a broad brush of ideas, and people. The one thing that unites Unionists is a desire to remain part of the UK, we don't need people giving us a reason to stop voting for Unionist parties or the Union itself, by having one message that doesn't capture the many. If only one brand of political Unionism is to exist, then you will be self sabotaging the Union from within.

Doug Beattie is a decent man, who served his country valiantly. His service could never be questioned. But the truth of the matter is that soft unionism, particularly on cultural war & Irish Sea border issues, is not representative of where the unionist community is at. Times have changed.

Enoch Burke's family heroically defend children & parents who have abandoned by teachers & church hierarchies.
J.K. Lunden@Jklunden

Full respect to the Burke family for showing up at the National Convention on Education - a complete stitch-up and a sham. It was an absolute disgrace that people questioned at the convention - including Niall Muldoon, the Children’s Ombudsman, and Alan Hynes, CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership - refused to engage with legitimate concerns being raised. It is no surprise that one activist reacted aggressively and refused to engage, but many parents would reasonably expect people who are meant to stand for parents’ rights, child safeguarding and a Catholic ethos to at least answer questions and participate in honest discussion. It is also no surprise that legacy media failed to show up to report properly on the event. In the weeks leading up to the first convention in March, the Natural Women’s Council and our volunteers wrote to every TD, every senator, schools across the country, and the Department of Education, urging them to properly notify parents about the convention and the conversations taking place around education. We also requested stakeholder status at the event. We were denied. We have since done FOIAs which will be published shortly. Beyond that, we did podcasts on the issue, sent newsletters to our subscribers, published numerous social media posts, and spoke directly with people on the streets to raise awareness about what was happening. We considered protesting at the first convention in March, but we are not going to protest our way out of this catastrophic corruption and destruction of Irish education. What’s needed now is immense and relentless public pressure on every elected representative in this country - pressure they cannot ignore. Pressure that makes them buckle. Parents and citizens must continue pushing until our public servants are forced to listen and act. Again, full respect to the Burkes for showing up and confronting the people and radical ideologies that are undermining Irish education and failing our children.

BREAKING: Shocking violence at LGBT-promoting education convention as DCU Professor smashes phone The CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership refused to answer questions at the event. The government has paid radical LGBT activists €250,000 to run the National Convention on Education which aims to shape the future of Irish education for the next 30 years. ‘Quality Matters’, an organisation run by Aoife Dermody and Caroline Gardner, was appointed by the government to facilitate the National Convention on Education. Dermody is a promoter of radical transgender ideology. Gardner (Quality Matters CEO) is in a polyamorous sexual relationship (three-way) with two other lesbians. Today we attended the second day of the convention held at Thomond Park in Limerick. There were violent scenes at the event. Professor Jane Suiter of Dublin City University, a key government pick for the event, violently smashed our phone to the ground when walking out. Jane Suiter is Full Professor in the School of Communications at Dublin City University. Her ‘research’ focuses on tackling ‘disinformation’. Suiter is director of DCU's Institute for Future Media, Democracy and Society. She has been deeply involved in previous government citizens’ assemblies. Adam Harris, brother of Tánaiste Simon Harris, was also present but refused to comment when questioned. Niall Muldoon, the Ombudsman for Children, was questioned on his advocacy for “gender-affirming care” as a priority for children — he remained silent. Muldoon had recently expressed dissatisfaction with his salary of €130,000, and has lobbied for an increase to €178,000 of taxpayer’s money. Also present at the event this weekend was Alan Hynes-Cendrzak, CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership. Established by the Irish Catholic Bishops, its aim is to provide “an authoritative and unified voice for Catholic education in the public forum.” Alan Hynes participated in the education convention in Limerick this weekend as facilitated by Caroline Gardner who lives in a “throuple” sexual relationship. When questioned today it was disturbing that Alan Hynes refused to respond. Alan Hynes and the Catholic Education Partnership (run by the Catholic Bishops of Ireland) have sought to place the responsibility for advocating for children’s education on parents. Meanwhile there has been a silence from the Bishops and Archbishops on the utter depravity being taught to children in our schools. The Chair of the National Convention on Education is Professor Anne Looney, the Executive Dean of DCU’s Institute of Education since 2019. Under her leadership DCU developed the first SPHE/RSE teacher training course which trains teachers ‘professionally’ in how to deliver sex education. This course includes sexually depraved content. A teacher who experienced the training said she felt the presence of Satan. Among much else the training includes an activity instructing children to write a detailed sex scene. There was a shameful cloak of secrecy over the entire convention in Limerick this weekend. The location was not revealed to the public. Attendees at the convention were instructed by the Chair Anne Looney not to share what anyone has said at the event outside the four walls. Extraordinary efforts were made to protect Anne Looney (Chair of the convention) and Caroline Gardner (CEO of Quality Matters and in a ‘throuple’) from facing any cameras or questions. There were no media present at the convention on either day. We phoned the RTÉ Education Correspondent Emma O’Kelly — she hung up after saying someone’s “private life” was not in the public interest. We also spoke to Pat Leahy of the Irish Times who also hung up after being confronted about the failure of the Irish Times to cover the event. The media are working with the government to hide from the public what this convention is really about — the promotion of LGBTQIA+ ideology in every school in Ireland.

Richard Baxter, writing in 1680 during a deeply divided period in English Christianity, called for unity among Christians without abandoning core doctrine. He promoted the line: “Unity in things necessary, liberty in things unnecessary, and charity in all things.” Baxter also warned: “We are sadly guilty of undervaluing the unity and peace of the whole Church.” And urged Christians: “Instead of quarrelling with our brethren, we must combine against the adversaries.” At a time when Protestants, Anglicans, Presbyterians and Independents were bitterly divided, Baxter believed Christians should stand together on essential truths rather than endlessly fracture over secondary disputes. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Coming up on the show live at 12pm: @LPerrins journalist with Gript Media says, “There are countries in the world where God still takes centre stage in both public life and private life. They value preserving their way of life and understand that there is more to life than how many apps you can get on the latest smartphone,” and “Everyone derives a value system from somewhere. Up until about five minutes ago, for Western civilisation that value system was Christianity.” Is she right? Do we get our values from religion, and does that suggest you can’t have values without a belief system or religion? Do you think those who don’t believe in God are missing out, and are their children missing out by being raised without God and the value system religion provides? Comments to WhatsApp 085 100 22 55
