Celebrating America’s 250th birthday in Front Royal! 🇺🇸   It was a joy to join the town at their community block party – and to take part in the ‘potluck’. Their Majesties contribution was none other than… a Coronation Quiche! 🥧   ‘America’s Potluck’ is a 250th celebration initiative, which aims to bring neighbours together across the country to share a communal meal and build a sense of connection in their community. Their Majesties celebrate the beauty of small-town America in Front Royal, Virginia! At the entrance to Shenandoah National Park, Front Royal offers a warm welcome to visitors, rooted in community spirit, history, and local pride. Welcomed by Governor of Virginia @SpanbergerForVA and Mayor of Front Royal Lori Athey Cockrell, Their Majesties watched a parade down Main Street before meeting local first responders, young farmers, scout groups, Welsh-heritage sheep, a local beekeeper, and the Front Royal Little League team,  who won the Virginia State Championship last summer, the town's first state title since 1962. The visit concluded with a celebration of Appalachian bluegrass culture, rooted in the Scots-Irish traditions that have shaped the region for centuries. Surrounded by music, food, and dancing, this visit shines a light on the people and traditions that make towns like this such an important part of American life. Parks and Rex! 🏕️ The King has spent time at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachian Highlands.   ⛰️ The Blue Ridge Mountains are among the oldest in the worldand the Appalachian Highlands were, remarkably, once connected to the Scottish Highlands as part of a single mountain chain.   Conservation efforts at Shenandoah include those aimed at preserving the iconic bald eagle, which was at risk of extinction in the mid-1900s. 🦅

From Washington to the great American outdoors. 🌲🇺🇸🇬🇧 King Charles III visited Shenandoah National Park today, celebrating a shared love of nature and conservation. ⛰️ Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah is part of an ancient landscape once joined to the Scottish Highlands, linking the UK and U.S. through a shared mountain range millions of years in the making. At Arlington National Cemetery, The King and Queen pay tribute to the Fallen at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.   Covering more than 600 acres, Arlington is interred with more than 400,000 veterans and their family members, alongside two former US Presidents. The cemetery also contains British Commonwealth graves.   Whilst at the cemetery, Their Majesties also met service personnel from the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand by the Canadian Cross.

A taste of royal celebration arrives in Front Royal. 👑🇬🇧🇺🇸 Our Embassy Chef is bringing a Coronation Quiche to the potluck today along with a beautiful layered Elderflower and Strawberry Victoria Sandwich cake. A smaller version of the cake was served as tea cakes during our Garden Party with Their Majesties on Monday, creating a sweet connection between these State Visit moments. 🍰 A British touch for a celebration of community, hospitality, and the people-to-people ties that make us #GreaterTogether. His Majesty King Charles III planted seedlings and met schoolchildren and community leaders at @HarlemGrown, a grassroots organization that transforms lives through urban agriculture, food education, and youth development. His Majesty toured the farm as schoolchildren planted lavender and mustard greens, and visited the farm’s chicken coop. His majesty is a longtime champion of action for a sustainable future, including sustainable agriculture. Founded in 2011, Harlem Grown has grown from a single community garden into a network of fourteen urban farm sites across Upper Manhattan, serving young people aged 5 to 17 through its founding mission: to "grow people.”

“A classic New York landmark that houses all the great love stories…” - Carrie Bradshaw   📚 The New York Public Library houses more than 50 million items, including nearly 15 million books, serving as a major centre for scholarship, learning and public access to knowledge.   Joined by guests from across the literary world, The Queen explored the library and spoke of the fundamental importance of reading at all ages.   Her Majesty also had the opportunity to spend time with representatives of domestic violence charities, who make use of the library.

It was brilliant to see the fantastic work taking place at Harlem Grown, a flourishing network of urban farms supporting children and families in Upper Manhattan.   Starting out as one neglected community garden which was transformed into a thriving space, Harlem Grown has developed into a network of fourteen sites across Upper Manhattan, delivering programmes that integrate hands-on sustainable agricultural education with after-school activities, mentorship, and wider community support across New York City.   Partnering with local schools and organisations, the initiative creates safe, nurturing spaces for young people and families.

"Grief is the price we pay for love." After the September 11, 2001, attacks Queen Elizabeth II sent a heartfelt message to the American people. The UK and the United States were united in loss. 25 years on Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited the 9/11 memorial and laid a commemorative bouquet at the South Pool in tribute to the nearly 3,000 people killed that day, including 67 British nationals. They met family members, first responders, elected leaders, and organisations connected to the legacy of 9/11. In New York today, The King and Queen have paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial.   During their time at the site, Their Majesties honoured the lives that were lost during the attacks, and recognised the courage of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts.   This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
